That's a bummer...it's better to work on cars when its warmer anyway :D

5 holes to drill, and bolt it on... Funny thing last night. Some girl was in the McDonalds parking lot and she had an older white avenger. She was super gluing her spoiler back on after one of her friends pulled it off... lol. That was hilarious!

Mopar has the spoiler for $349 If I remember correctly, seen the it on ebay for about $120 shipped in stone white, says it the original OEM spoiler I wonder why it's much cheaper.

Anyone else see this?.

What about other Dealers on those RT Mirrors. Check with Sublime198 on the Charger Forumz. PM him. He might have them and give you a great price. Also AdamC on the Charger side. Just a thought :old:

The R/T mirrors were about $77 each. I am getting the spoiler today, but I may wait a while to get it on... I need to make sure I have the equipment to get it installed. I will post some before and after pictures, as well as a how to.

That's stupid, they should be the same price. I'm sure the harness for the heat is the same...

Sphinx
03-05-2008, 03:15 PM
Well I am not sure about the harness. The R/T mirrors have the heat option, but not all SXT's have them... SE's don't offer the heated mirrors I think. I could not find the wiring harness for the heated mirrors, but I am sure it is on that website. I was astonished that the price was different as well. Oh well...

I wonder if the price difference is due to "objects in mirror are closer than they appear"? Isn't there some difference between one side and the other due to that?

lol. I think the it's b/c of the heating that they cost more not b/c of the "appear closer" sticker. I was going to buy the White R/T Mirrors but my dealer said I could not add them to my SXT b/c the harness would not match :4-dontknow:.

So I might take them to a Body shop and get them colored matched.

Jes, I have the heated SXT mirrors right now, so I am assuming the harnesses will match up just fine. The price difference is from left to right AvengerRT. The R/T mirrors only come one way, but the others can be heated or not.

Yeah ur right the harness will not be a problem, I don't have the Heated mirrors so I can't get the R/T mirrors.

Hey BTW did you ever get that spoiler? still waiting for some feedback on the quality.

Sphinx
03-06-2008, 01:30 PM
I got the spoiler yesterday, and I would say the quality of the paint was great... The ease on installation was great, and I am overall satisfied. It took me about an hour, but I lost a screw in between the trunk metal space. I had to mess with that to get the bolt out for about 20 minutes. I will post a how too when I get a chance.

Anyone else see this?.Yes I've been watching prices come down on them. I think it would be good if you buy from one that gives you a warranty and specifies what kind of paint they use. Yes they could lie. Dodge ALWAYS charges alot. For 5 copper screws for my Dodge Daytona it was $8.00. Small ones too. Over the 16 years buying small parts for that car I've seen some pretty stupid prices.

the spoiler comes with the paper you need to drill the holes you just line it up on the trunk tape it down and drill the holes in the trunk are already there on the inside to put the bolts in to. hope this helps you.

Sphinx
03-11-2008, 08:26 AM
Yeah, I used the paper template. One of them tore in half, but other than that, it worked fine. I got all my holes drilled just fine, I just cross threaded one screw and had to get a new one. When I first got the spoiler, I was wondering where the template was... lol.

AvengerRT

After you drilled did you coat the holes with something so the bare metal wouldn't rust?

That's what I heard and I would do it. How about silicone around the area just in case of water leaking?

Sphinx

I actually used some touch-up paint from my last car, and then after I installed the spoiler, I siliconed the area up... just make sure you have a nice clean surface at that point.

I'm trying to decide tonight on whether to buy a flat black spoiler or the one the color of the car. It'll be a OEM copy. I'm trying to picture the Charger like stripes for the Avenger on the rear quarter panels and a flat black spoiler. It's not the stinger stripe. It has a SXT and a thin stripe under it. Ofcourse I don't have an SXT, I'll just change it to SE.

That would be great. Thanks. I am going to get one ordered here soon, just gotta wait for something to sell on Ebay. I am a little worried about trying to install it. I wonder what it might cost me to have it put on by a body shop. Shouldn't take more then 30-45 mins, don't know what that would cost me though. Just affraid to drill holes myself.

Sphinx
03-23-2008, 09:31 PM
I think it took me a whole 45 mins. It is not hard as long as you take your time, and you can handle a power drill. Also be sure the center punch where you want your holes, or your drill will walk across the trunk lid. There are some eBay sellers that offer an installation video with the purchase. You may want to get that and watch what they do first before you try it. Don't be scared, it is not that hard at all!

It really isn't hard to install at all. Mine took me 20 minutes to install.

It is easy if you have a helper. There is plenty of people selling spoilers on ebay for under $100.00. Before bidding/buying, ask seller if they include a template. The template makes this almost idiot proof.

My template came with 3 pieces of plastic (about 12" long with a nipple in the center)

1.) You place the nipple into the bolt holes underneath the spoiler.
2.) Place the spoiler on the rear deck (trunk)
3.) stand back and look at the lines and move spoiler accordinly.
4.) Once the spoiler looks good, measure to make sure one side is exactly the same as the other side.
5.) Once you are satisfied that the spoiler is where you want it, tape down the 3 pieces of plastic from step one. Tape it down tight.
6.) Now you want to pull the spoiler off of the trunk leaving the plastic pieces still taped to the trunk and not moving them at all.
7.) Now you can mark the holes with a nail/punch or what ever you have and remove the plastic strips.
8.) Make sure you have a sharp drill bit and drill your (3) holes. If you do not feel safe drilling all 3 holes at once just drill one at a time.

Add silicone or touch up paint to the holes on your trunk so it does not rust.

Enjoy your new spoiler because it makes a big difference on the appearance on your car.

Sue,if you get a spoiler unpainted, they usually come this ugly color gray primer. You shouldn't have to do any prep to it. Try not to get fingerprints on it and wipe it down with alchol (no,not beer) and spray 2 light coats of flat black spray paint on the bottom of the spoiler ( flat paint will dry within minutes) and then about 3-4 coats on top. Even if you can't spray paint it is really easy wih flat spray paint.

Place the flat black spoiler on your trunk and I will guarntee you will not paint it same color as car. A silver car looks sweet with black accent. Now you need some flat black quarter pannel graphics.

I am going to try to get some pictures up within the next week or 2 of my Inferno red R/T with flat black spoiler and flat black hockey style graphics.

Ohh yeah, the graphics are really easy to install also, if you get them I will tell you how to install them also.

Thanks for the instructions dodge rt! When I installed mine, they gave me a paper template. It was thin strips of paper that had a hole in the middle. You were to tape them to the spoiler centered over the hole, and the line up your spoiler the way you describe. When I taped them to the car, and pulled the spoiler up, I ripped one, and pulled three of them off the trunk... lol. I am glad to hear you got some better equipment! lol.
