I know a lot of you have been putting new ones on, so i went to the shop and got a price on putting flowmaster 40's on. im just a little hesitent on what i want i guess. i love flowmasters i had them on my one mustang and my camaro. i just want to know some more possibilities. i know someone said they had magnaflows on theres.

so heres what i want to know is all the people that have put them on their cars let me know what you put on and how much it ran out to be.

i know for mine for 2 flowmaster 40, ypipe and two tips + labor is going to be 300. i was lookin on summit the flowmasters cost around 86 bucks apiece. so im going to shop around on prices. also i remember bullet you said you had flow44 on yours what problem did you have with that, i told them i wanted flow 44 and they didnt think that would work for my car hence why they recommended the 40. if you did or if someone else has it, how did you set it up

The problem is we have no room underneath the car. I had a magnaflow with a 14" body, smallest they come, and there is no way possible to run duals out from it. The only way to do it was running straight duals out centered like the xfire. How and where they are going to fit 2 fm's 40s...is beyond me lol - you would literally have 90 degree bends which would cut off the air. If you take a look at this pic:

http://www.avengerforumz.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=276&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1202418186 (http://www.avengerforumz.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=276&d=1202418186)

There is no way you are going to fit 2 20"+ mufflers under there...unless they are doing something else? I had a y-pipe made for $40, labor costed me $100 and that was rebuilding from the y out with 2 tips which I paid $25 each.

thats what me and my uncle were talking about, we lifted it up today and where looking at it. they had a computer drawling on it, but like i said I'm kinda hesitant on how its going to work

Yeah I dunno man I would be leary. It seems the only options for us are to do the y-pipe w/ new or the same tips, then change out the resonator with a muffler. I have been researching with that is we would have to fit a round muffler where the resonator is and I think no bigger than a 6" diameter until I measure.

The problem with round mufflers is most of them are straight pass through - the reason with the oval mufflers give you the different tones and what not is because of the baffles, chambers, etc. and they have more room to play around with the air. I am thinking these cars are all going to make the same sound no matter what we do which kind of sucks lol

Unless someone switches up the rear bumper with center cutouts for duals and we can run a muffler with single in/dual outs and run it to the center.

The problem i was having was there was not enough room for the super 44, they made it fit but i ran into problems later on so i would not recommend a muffler that does not fit properly......

I beat that won't be cheap. I would just do something custom at a local shop and save a lot of cash. If you want a good price on a muffler check out ebay also. I get all mine there and they are good priced. I think the best beat is to go with a single muffler on our cars. Not enough room under there. Magnaflow has a muffler that has the outlet/inlet on the same side and will work great with how our stock exhaust comes down the middle.

i still havent decided what i want to do, the big thing that want to try to do is lessin the reaction time from when i stomp on the gas till i actually go but there is just not enough mods out there right now i guess.

Headers and a hi-flow cat will help with this...The muffler will not, btw all, I feel like an idiot :) I talked to my cool service guy at the dealership. The stock muffler is nothing more than straight pipe inside the big box, it's so packed with sound dampening materials hence why its so quiet. So basically, those of us that did the y-pipe did it all for looks as it barley affects performance at all even with changing out the resonator for a muffler. He said a muffler that will create a vortex will help a little bit, but it may not even be noticeable. So now I'm really stuck on making a decision on a muffler :)

I may have something. :) Found a very unique muffler that may work. I have been shooting emails back and forth with who I believe is the owner. He seems to be all about performance...

http://www.spintechmufflers.com/spintech/spintechindex.asp

He is checking some stuff and letting me know as we may be able to fit 2 mufflers (1 for each tailpipe) and these would actually increase performance. Depending on an interest, there is a possibility we may be able to get a full exhaust system designed by them but I have no idea. We would really need to push it. This would be headers, hi-flow cat, and the rest. I will continue to make contact with them and see what I can get out of them :p

I believe so but not positive. The only thing I know is they have to pass emissions. :)

You can do all the "mods" you like, you'll never get rid of that hesitation

That "hesitation" you're trying to get rid of is produced by the "throttle by wire" set up on our 3.5 liter cars. I too find this more than a little annoying but it is part of the design. You would have to eliminate this feature and somehow set up a throttle cable system and reprogram the pcm to account for this change(Nearly impossible, right now anyway).

I found that if you switch off the ESP and use Autostick, the hesitation is reduced but NOT ELIMINATED. Sorta sucks but it is what it is!!!

You can fit 2 mufflers underneath the car cause my buddy has 2 under there and its the FWD, some knock off flowmasters.....i was looking at my car lastnite and there is room for 2 mufflers.....but ur gonna have to angle them at 45 degrees though....

PaulAs for the hesitation, a new programmer will eliminate that...diablo predator will get rid of it but they need to come out with one first...is all in the software

I actually received a response from borla on this system.

Thank you for your interest in Borla products. You are correct about a system for the Dodge Avenger R/T. We are in the finishing stages right now. I would suggest you contact us in 30 days. We will have a system number and a price by then. I can not speculate as to what the price might be.

No 2 mufflers dont really give u better sound it is just better flow...now if u have true dual exhaust thats where the sound and quality comes from....Also diffrent mufflers and the number of chambers u have in it to...but 2 mufflers will work cause iv seen it and it looks good but i do not c the need for it....
