View Full Version : Water off of trunk lid
byrgman 04-23-2008, 05:55 PM It was raining the other day and when I opened the trunk, water poured in. The deck seems to be inside the line of the trunk when lifted. I would like to find a trim piece to help divert the water to the outer edges. Suggestions?
Quiet Lunatic 04-23-2008, 06:13 PM Good luck lol - seriously though no idea :)
almulder 04-23-2008, 06:55 PM I hear ya man. I get the same problem. I need to also find a solution as I am going to be installing 2 amps in the trunk where my tire is currently.
I can have water dripping into the trunk then.
Sphinx 04-23-2008, 06:59 PM You could get a kit that opens the trunk different... I posted a thread on it a while ago... I will try to find it.
Edit*
Here (http://avengerforumz.com/showthread.php?t=11978) it is!
Quiet Lunatic 04-23-2008, 08:38 PM I wonder if they have made any changes to this. Mine is close, but not actually inside the line of the trunk (water may hit the rear window and splash inside, but not run right in).
DutchAvenger 04-24-2008, 05:58 AM It rains quite a bit here, I really get muscles by opening the trunk as fast as I can, it is the only way to avoid water getting in.
The first time I had the water pouring in, it ruined a big stack of newly printed brochures I picked up for my company.
ZookerT 04-24-2008, 06:43 AM i open it as slow as i can and it seems to work for me
josho66 04-24-2008, 07:18 AM Yeah I found out this wonderful feature after a large snow. I had a nice snow pile in my trunk. I now make sure there is no snow on the lid. If there is rain I go with the open slow method also.

And the spoiler makes it hard to clear the snow off. :i_rolleyes:

Yeah it hasn't snowed since I put my new spoiler on so I can only imagine. Just love living where it snows. I need to move to a warmer climate......
Quiet Lunatic 04-25-2008, 09:59 AM Yeah it hasn't snowed since I put my new spoiler on so I can only imagine. Just love living where it snows. I need to move to a warmer climate......It'll be easier for me than my Daytona I think. I had a big louver the whole length of the rear window. A lot times you'd have to unlock it and lift it up. But I got used to it.
Tranza01 04-25-2008, 03:37 PM I had tail light seal go and every time it rained I got a pool in the trunk.

Quiet Lunatic 04-26-2008, 10:24 AM Sue you are chatty tonight lol not that its a bad thing! Husband out with the guys? :pNo he was right here near me watching the Boston Red sox game. I ate half a cheese cake my daughter bought me, maybe that's it. My husband doesn't like me eating fatty stuff so I wrote with a magic marker real professional on the container "Low Fat" HAHAHAHAHA He had 2 heart attacks at 41 so he's very health wise.
Sphinx 04-26-2008, 11:15 AM Oh wow... is he doing better now? You should listen to him when it comes to that stuff... even though it is fat free, you still should eat in moderation... lol.

You should listen to him when it comes to that stuff... even though it is fat free, you still should eat in moderation... lol.Yes thanks. He was never sick a day in his life. He thought it was a sandwich he ate and his throat closed up. Totally different symptoms than the "left arm" thing. He jogs and lifts weights 5 days a week. No fatty pork chops etc. He has a Hamburger once a week that's all. It really scared the heck out of him. Now one of my daughters might have heart problems. She's never sick either. I do eat in moderation too. But I splurge once in awhile. As long as it doesn't become everyday I'm all set.
smoke2082 04-27-2008, 02:39 AM i was kindov thinking if there was a way to replace those hydraulic lifters for the trunk (haha i dont think i got the name of them right) with some that dont let the trunk open as much. This something thats feasible or am i just hoping lol?
open it slowly , problem solved
smoke2082 04-29-2008, 10:10 PM oh yeah thats what i do but still would be nice if something could fix it so in a rush you dont got niagra falls coming into your trunk lol. Not that i am afraid of water because i work outside but me and the watergods have a war going. Every one of my cars so far have leaked water into it from somewhere thats why i sold them all haha.
ncutway 04-29-2008, 10:38 PM I have had a problem not only with water/snow falling into the trunk, but also water getting inside the trunk lid. I've opened it at times and could hear the water sloshing around and falling out the vent holes on the bottom of the lid. I think the spoiler is the culprit.
bananabrains 06-08-2010, 02:52 PM this was an easy fix for me, there are two rubber plugs in the bottom edge of your trunk lid. remove them and the water drains right out, there no more leaky trunks
