i have had a problem with the updates to my non-nav REN MyGig (more here http://avengerforumz.com/showpost.php?p=37683&postcount=25 )
So I ended up downgrading to REN 8.400 which is the latest version that seems to work properly on my MyGig.

Anyway. There is a bug/feature that allows me to play a DVD while driving.

I start the movie, press the audio button, take out of park, and once moving, press the done button on the screen. The audio menu closes and the dvd continues playing and showing on the screen. It will stop playing if you touch the screen, or put into and then take back out of park, but otherwise will continue playing the entire movie whether you are moving or stopped.

I would rather not have the other issues with, and be able to upgrade to, the newer versions, but this is a nice trade-off for now.

On youtube you can search for "watch dvd mygig" and there is a guy with a grand caravan that appears to have the same "feature"... I figured it was a hoax, but maybe there is more to it...

It's real. Not sure what version fixed that, but 8.400 has that "feature."

It works on the non-NAV version (REN) and I believe it is only in 8.400 from what I found online.

As far as it know, it is only the NON-nav not the nav.

Yes they have updated the software. There are at least three newer versions than the one with the "feature" - with many improvements

Man, that works like a charm! Just don't press any other buttons while you are watching, or you will have to put it back in park and do it again... lol. Watched some of a movie while I was in the car wash! That is what I wanted this system to do!

You can press the Audio button if you want to hide the video - if the car next to you happens to be an officer of the law or something - then press Done to go back to the video. Other than that, yeah, you will have to put it in park to get it to show again.

I love this little bug! I was going to get the lockpick, but now I don't need it. I have no intentions of a backup camera, so this works fine for me...

The UNofficial MyGig site has now posted 8.400 for the REN (non-nav).
