i was looking at the schematic for the 3.5 L.. There are 3 catalytic converters on it????

Is the 3.5L schematic of a AWD or just R/T?

The 3.5l should only have 1 cat

Do you all think you could take just the muffler from the 3.5 and use it on the 2.4 to get the dual exhaust? I have been thinking about this for a while... and if and when Zoomers gets their system together, I would be willing to buy one of your mufflers that they replace!

I tlked to one member on here about that when i first joined and he said on the se or sxt there was some find of box on the driver side of the car where the other exhaust tip would come out at. I dont know because i have not seen an se or sxt up close

Can someone with an SXT check this out when they can? Basically look to see if there are any obstructions where the second exhaust tip would come out. As bullet said, this is located on the drivers side.

Thanks Bullet!

I don't think the long resonator looking thing in the center is a CAT... It looks like a resonator to me... I'm assuming the drive shaft runs in that huge tunnel for the AWD models so it looks like FWD and AWD are the same exhaust systems. Is this the case?

I actually have an SXT with the R/T dual outlet muffler. No pics at the moment though and I didn't do it myself, but it is possible.

Great to hear that the SXT's can get the dual exhaust. Let us know what you find out Bullet!

No it was the wrong thing some gu in another forum said u could not put flowmaster mufflers on the avenger without drillin in the floor plate or somin like that.

Hey bullet, unfortunately I havebeen unable to do anything really. I still have the stock exhaust for the Avenger SXT with the 2.7L. And probably not going to mod this one out. I leased it.

I asked the same Q when the guys in parts made copies for me. They looked it up and that is what the book says. Seems kinda odd to me.

I will double check, but that is what the guys in my parts depart and I found that the book says

Ok. I went back to the service and parts mngr and we pulled the schematic and looked indepth at this and the only thing we found was that it is a piece of the exhaust. I appoligise for the misstake on the schematic. there is no designation of any kind.

Defender,
I want to put dual exhaust on my 2.7 SXT. What is the part number for the muffler
and the cost for it? If you have any pics that would be great.

The black box in the back on the drivers side on a SXT is part of the fuel system. It is the part that is filled with charcoal to absorb the fuel vapors from the gas. I was told by a mechanic at a dealership that it could be moved a little but I looked at mine and it looks like it would not interfere with a muffler. Also there is no cut out line to follow or an indent to cut out for the second tip. You know if you keep the tip low it should not even touch the back bumper.:smiley_thumbs_up:
