what happens if you use a usb hub in the usb port on the stereo and two seperate devices, say an mp3 player and a gps... im thinking of making a console insert that goes in front of the shifter in that open hole, flushes it up to follow the contour of the dash and mount my gps behind it... but im wondering if i couldnt make a spot to dock my ipod alongside, i dont have mygig, but i plan on upgrading to it soon... i plan on wiring a usb cable hard into the stereo and running it down to the console insert all hidden like.... btw, does the mygig recognize an ipod, or no?

First, if you are just wanting to power usb devices, they have 12v to usb. I wouldn't try to power multiple devices off the mygig.
The mygig will recognize an ipod in hd mode, but only to copy songs to the mygig - and the mygig only supports mp3, not aac.
With the REN mygig and the uconnect module, there is an ipod cable that lets you leave the songs on the ipod and control the ipod with the mygig, and of course listen over your car speakers. You can then leave the ipod in the glove box or wherever.

What's funny about that is that I have an 80G Ipod that it does that, it transfers the music to my MyGig harddrive, which was nice cause it imports all the song names, titles, artists, etc. But when I bought an Ipod Touch and plugged it into the USB, it just charges it without actually transferring anything.
