Work overnights for a certain home improvement warehouse. Too boring, the daytime workers end up doing all our work before we even come in (they get bored, business is slow and getting worse) and we're locked in until 5am less there's an emergency. Hopefully the union school (engineering) I'm in will land me a better job in the near future but jobs in NJ aren't easy to come across anymore.

Prior to the military and in my spare time now I do custom electronics ranging from car audio to custom computers and home theater. Always enjoy working on cars, from replacing the tail light to rebuilding the engine. I've got my 08 venger, an 89 jeep comanche and an 86 camaro.

I migrated in October from accounting/Accounts Payable to doing technical training in engineering and testing code on products and creating eLearning.

I am head of stark tech industries and sell weapons to people around the world always having a bigger stick then the other guy.

I work in the law enforcement field up here in canada.

I build fire trucks for west-mark fire in atwater ca.

I give sick people rides to the emergency room.

I drive a band-aid box and get to put the band-aids on patients some days.
For work I do it from nursing home to hospital/doctor office & vice versa
Then I volunteer for a 911 band-aid box.

I'm an historian for an international institute based in Brussels that cares about political refugees coming into Europe: legal, social and educational assistance, language learning...

For the past 4 mth's now I have been unemployed. The past 11 years I was a Maintenance Mechanic and Electrician. It's hard finding employment out there at this time. There are so many people with the same skills as others, so the competition for a job is high. So for those of you that have a job I would recommend that you try to keep it no mater how bad you think it is. Because your employer knows they can get someone else if need be to do your job for probably less pay. I hate to say it but it has gotten to where some company's out there no longer care about the person them selves it's how much they have to invest in getting the job done.

I feel your pain! I got laid off from my job designing commercial golf course mowers in Feb and didn't find work until Aug. As a side bonus, I'm now making $3 an hour less, and have no benefits. Yee haw! I'd complain, but it's better than sitting at home! I'm now working for a company that makes tow vehicles for aircraft. I am doing two jobs there, one is in the engineering department as a drafter, and then I also program the cnc plasma cutter that cuts all the steel parts that go into the tugs. It's kind of a step back from what I was doing, but the commute is much better, and I feel like my job is safer now than when I was at the last company which was much bigger. And I get to work 10 hour days mon-thurs and have fridays off!

Actually I no longer work for that company. They mainly did chargers for industrial fork trucks. I actually work for a company called Cooper Bussmann. You may have heard of them. They make fuses. I support our products via phone and email. I provide technical information and even do some application assistance here and there. Substations huh. I had an option to study power systems in college and decided not too. I kinda wish I would have now, but I am where I am, and no changing that now. I hope you enjoy your job!! :smileup:

Yup! I know who they are. We use Cooper reclosers and Bussmann fuses. Of course that is more of the distribution side which I only deal with a little now and then. If I ever need some product info I will have to give you a call. :D

I think you primarily use stuff from Cooper Power. They are more of the distribution side outside of the building, and we (Bussmann), are mainly in the inside of the building in feeder, branch and supplementary circuits! :smileup:

Doesn't Bussmann make distribution class (12-13 kV) fuses as well? Or am I making that up? We usually put breakers inside the substations, which is where I mainly work so I guess I'm mistaken.

Well, we do use 250V Bussmann fuses and fuse blocks on our protective relaying panels we install inside the substation control building. Just spec'd some the other day as a matter of fact for a project I am working on :D

Thanks for specing those in!! That is why I still have a job, cause of people like you!!

We do make some fuses up to 15kv, but not really our bread and butter. We make our E rated fuses for 5.5kv or 15.5kv, E rated of coarse, and then we do make some R rated fuses for motors. Cooper Power really has a much wider product range in the 5.5kv range and higher than we do. Anyways, thanks!! :smileup:

Full Time Student. Wait.... that doesn't count does it.... Going for mechanical engineering. Last work I did was over the summer working as a Surveyor. They guys out in the middle of the roads with the tripods and rods? Yup, that was me, lol, though we rarely did public roads, more setting up corners and whatnot for buildings and making sure things that were built were built according to the plans

well i just got hired to be a stocker at a major big box retailer nothing spectacular but its a job

sorry it took me so long to answer mspac. yes we do all our own fabrication. its just bare steel and sheet metal basically when we start building. than it looks like this.

I design computer system environments (servers, connectivity, routers, switches, firewalls, loadbalancers, storage, misc. components) for enterprise and internet connected applications.

I also own two companies that let me deduct the majority of my daily expenses.
