Like the title says, this really IS a universal kit. Took me all of about 15 minutes to install. Gives the car a really nasty snarl at about 4500 rpm (that's pretty close to where our engines develop peak torque) and a slightly noticable performance boost. Definitely more responsive. I have a 6X3 brake cooling duct that I'm planning to install in the front fascia where we already have a duct but it's blocked off with a plate. I'm going to remove the plate and attach the cold air hose to the end of the brake duct and WHAMMO!! Good old fashioned "RAM AIR". Don't know if it'll make any difference at all but I think it's sorta neat anyway.

Nice. At least there is another option for us lowly Avenger owners now. I take it there is a cone filter inside that plastic housing?

CRAP, I knew I forgot to buy something!!!!!

Yes, of course there is silly!! The unit is rated for 250 bhp (Brake horsepower), I don't know what that means in the real world but it's gotta be better than that HUGE freaking air box with no air getting into it!!

Looks very nice, amazing how much extra can be found.
It is also interesting to see how different the approaches are these cold/ram air intakes. It seems everyone has an idea, some mild, some wild.

Nice Maskedaveger, in pic #3 I see ducting coming off the filter cone were did you duct it too.

Thanks mate! The duct is a future install piece. I'm ducting it to a brake cooling duct I picked up . It'll fit in the front fascia and HOPEFULLY will function as a ram air scoop at higher speeds.

Oh thanks for that, i think Suek found somethink about how to messure air pressure might come in handy with your ram air scoop. Ill see if I can find it http://www.avengerforumz.com/showthread.php?t=21611&highlight=air+pressure

Don't knock yourself out, I've read her article and it seems like WAYYYYYYYY to much work for me. I'll just hook it up where I originally thought it should go and do the old "seat of the pants dyno test".

Oddly enough, there are two rectangular air duct holes that are blocked off by factory plates in the lower front fascia almost in line with the foglamps. I figure they're there for a reason so I'll try it out.

very nice work. I was thinking about putting that on my car before i built my intake. REP for you.:smiley_thumbs_up:

What is the outside diam. of the intake at the mas flow sensor? Trying to figure out a different system. THANKS!

I opened the areas in each diamond shape with a dremel in the plate you are referring to, and my filter sits right behind and back a little from it.

EXACTLY!!!! Why don't you log onto Pegasus Auto Racing Products (http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/) and see if you want to maybe install a brake cooling duct? There only $17 and they have lots of neat other stuff that'll maybe give you some ideas.

I don't have a mass air flow sensor but the throttle body diameter is 2 15/16" and the lower air box hose nipple measures 2 7/8" if this helps at all??

Okay, so here's the scoop; I tried to get the 6"X3" brake cooling duct hooked up yesterday and ran into a tiny problem. The duct fit perfectly (And I mean PERFECTLY!!!!!) into the front fascia just where I wanted it, to the inside of the driver's side fog light. Problem....the air intake hose will not attach to the backside of the duct due to clearance issues. The depth of the duct isn't the issue, the centre placement of the duct outlet is. I'm going to see if the supplier has an offset outlet to do the same thing. If the duct outlet was to the side....we will have a true ram air system!! I'm not talking about trimming a snorkel, eliminating the interior air box nozzle or gutting an airbox here, I'm talking pressurizing the airflow itself and ramming that air charge right down the Avenger's throat!! Lots of flow at idle, more flow at speed and nice, cold outside air!!!

What brand duct and or part number were you trying to use?

You will have the same results as my hood gasket placement change with the scoop trim, they both are high presure air flow places I did mine the way I did so i didn't have to cut the fasha. The way I did mine the outside cool air forced off the imitasion grill area is forced up into the big funnel created by the reshaped hood gasket. you are using the air slammed agenst the fasha both are true high presure pionts and will create ram air. you will love the results I know mine gets better each day, along with MPG going down :i_rolleyes: do to the computor ajusting the fuel to keep air/fuel ratio the same. Got to love old school know how. Us old dogs can still teach new school some stuff  don't count us out yet ;)

Here is the cooloing duct I had planned to use:

http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3623o

The problem is the depth of the duct. The flang!!e on the back is 1.5" deep and you need some there to attach the ducting to. If the flange is offset, they want to make the duct even deeper and then we're back to the same issue. I'll keep working on it and I'll figure something out!!

Try this Duct size. It is offset.
The Duct on top.

Ya, Pegasus has that duct too. Still too deep. What I need is the duct outlet to come off the side so I have more room.

Thanks though, I'll keep looking!!!
