How would you go about installing something like this? Are there any extra needed tools or is it possible with just a few around the house tools, and about how long does it take?
Sphinx 06-24-2008, 09:44 AM There has been several people who bought that grille. Maybe they can tell you what is needed, but I would assume that the only tool you would need is one to pop the little black plugs from the top of the grille so you can take it out. Any thoughts guys and gals?
Quiet Lunatic 06-24-2008, 12:47 PM Wait so do you need to take out the black bars running horizontal behind the crosshair grille? Or does the mesh go inbetween them?
Sphinx 06-24-2008, 01:39 PM The mesh is on the outside of the black bars. You don't modify the grille, you just secure the grille to the black bars.
Quiet Lunatic 06-24-2008, 01:45 PM Okay, cool I gotcha. Thats alot less work on my part haha. For only 30-40 bucks I think this is probably (proportionally) the cheapest mod with the best outlook for its price.
Now all I need is an Avenger haha...black SXT coming in 2 weeks.
Sphinx 06-24-2008, 01:49 PM Sweet! Yeah, you still need to take the grille out, but it is very easy. You are right about it being a great mod that is cheap and really changes the appearance of the car!! Be sure to post up some pictures when you get your car!
almulder 06-24-2008, 02:46 PM FYI: The pics on the ebay listing of the blue car is mine. I sent him pics after the install and gave him permision to use them.
Install was not bad at all. You do have to drill small holes into you current grill for the top part and then for the bottom sides by the fog lights. The rest just ties into the grill. He provides the wire to do so.
If you are upclose on the grill you can see the grill is just tied into in but from just a few feet away you can't tell unless you look.
Install only took abut 20 min to do.
Here is the link to my post when I installed them.

Quiet Lunatic 06-24-2008, 05:15 PM Wait, so the mesh ties in BEHIND the grille? Or in front? If its behind, then how can you see that it IS in fact tied into the grille if you look really closely?
Sorry for the emphasis haha.
And by the way, congrats on owning that blue Avenger on their ebay page...that grille makes it stand out for sure.
Sphinx 06-24-2008, 07:59 PM The mesh sets in from of the black grille. Then it is tied onto the black grille so it will stay put. I hope this helps.
Quiet Lunatic 06-24-2008, 11:27 PM Yes, it helped and I appreciate it. However I am not one for words haha...so just to clarify:
-There is nothing to be removed
-I have to drill holes behind the grill to secure the 4 piece mesh
-I have to drill holes behind the fog lamps to secure the 3 piece mesh
-They attach onto the grill with wires behind it
Correct?
markio 06-25-2008, 09:31 AM I put this on as well and like Sphinx said you should remove the grille to install it. If not it would be a PITA. It is very simple to remove though. Just lift the center up on each plastic retaining pin and then the whole pin lifts out. Then you can drill very small holes, just big enough to feed the wire through, wherever you are going to attach it. The lower bumper grille was a little different. On the center section the grille is open, so you can get the wire around a section of one of the diamond shapes. On each side it is a solid piece, and unless you remove the lower plastic shroud under the car I couldn't figure out how to access this area without taking it off. I said screw it and just used great quality high strength hot glue to run a nice bead on each side of those 2 pieces. It looks great and noone even notices.
Sphinx 06-25-2008, 09:44 AM You do have to pull the grille up from the bumper. This will allow you to attach the mesh to the grille. You will see when you get your car. I can take pictures when I am finished with my grille.
markio 06-25-2008, 09:52 AM Yeah, I forgot about those little tabs. One of those did not want to go back in for anything, but I got it.
