Im building a exhaust for the SXT. I knotice on them that only the Passanger side has a cut out for the tail pipe, but if you look at the other side there is provisions to cut it out.
Im thinking if i just leave it and put the pipes a little lower then the bumper it wont be knoticeable. Thoughts?
what have others done.
thanks

Are you hanging dual mufflers or just running a y pipe? My fear would be a loss in back pressure

im cutting off the factory muffler, then going to run a flowmaster super 44 single in and split dual out. Im going to use the factory hangers aswell.

im going straint of the exhaust, no bends.

Some others that put on duals cut this area out, but you do what you like. Personally, I would make them match.

When I installed the R/T duels I cut the bumper for other exhaust tip. Just trace the actual exhaust cutout on the passenger side (left). Take the traced pattern and flip it around and center it within drivers side (right) outline. There is a outline on the left side already....DO NOT CUT that outline because it's too big. If you notice on the right side that the outline is there too but the cutout is actually smaller than it this is why you center the traced pattern within the outline.
Take your time and mark the outline then use a Dremel with a cutting wheel to cut it. After that put the grinding wheel on the Dremel to get the edges smoothed out. It's not a difficult task just measure carefully first then cut and smooth the edges.

I think you have to do the cut out if you go with duals. Just wouldn't look right with one done and one not.

FYI - the flowmaster will not fit. Search early muffler threads like, back in march or so. We all went through this :D

If you are going with super 44 and original hangers have fun. You only have 24" of room and super44 is 13" case only. Thats why I build my own muffler had to build it 10" long case just to get it to fit without having super tight bends in pipes.
as far as pipes make it look same you have a new car do it wright.
