We would except you were beat to it :p Although this is a different website that has the same product :)
Quiet Lunatic 08-17-2008, 05:31 AM I would like to see that intake fitted out, interested to see how that heat shield sits and where

And this is exactly when I havn't tried to source one yet. I don't know if they are making a short ram intake or a true CAI or what. I figure that once they install one on an Avenger and post a pic, then everyone will know how it fits and then will be able to make the decision to buy it or wait or whatever.
Quiet Lunatic 08-18-2008, 05:34 PM I posted about it about a week ago no one seen it? It looks like the heat sheild uses the air duck in hood already there and seals to hood help air flow. in same post it is there about the avenger strut tower suport mopar has out now also.
Bullet85 08-26-2008, 08:33 AM Has anybody ordered this yet? im really interested on how it fits.

RTblack 08-28-2008, 02:38 PM I talked to this guy bob at authentic dodge, its actually a diamler dealership somewhere. hes got 6 intakes instock and 6 braces arriving tomorrow. I have grabed mine leaving 5 of each left. if you want one order it now he said that they wont last.
Quiet Lunatic 08-28-2008, 02:45 PM Let us know when you get it...I'd would not be suprised if its months from now :)

You are the ginny pig..lol...got to love that!!!!!....Dont feel bad i was the first to lower the avenger on here, but everything turned out ok....good luck with the intake.
Brokay 08-29-2008, 01:14 PM I have purchased this intake and already installed it. The part number from the supplier is 77060005, don't know if it's a mopar number or not.
I didn't take any pics when I was installing it and the pics I have after the install are just from my cell phone.

Looks nice! So it draws in from under the fender. Where does the filter set?
I googled the part number you gave and the CAI for a 2003 to 2005 Dodge Ram comes up. It's a MOPAR number.

You have to remove the plastic skirt under the front bumper and it tucks up in behind the fog light area.
I'll double check the part number on my supper break in a couple hours ( I'll go home and grap the instructions, should be on there) and repost.
DustyDuster 08-29-2008, 03:03 PM Whoa! I didn't realize the Mopar intake was a true "cold air" unit! I thought it was just a short ram thing! That is NICE.
Now I wish I hadn't spent the money on building a short ram intake! Could have used that money towards the price of that!
Brokay 08-29-2008, 05:17 PM The air filter is actually located right underneath the battery. There's a shield that attaches to the frame that boxes off the area between the battery and the bottom skirt.
Here's some more pics, I also included a copy of the bill of materials showing part number 77070005 for the cold air intake kit. Sorry I guess I typed in the wrong number originally.

That is a very nice setup. I thought this was going to be a short intake. What was funny about the first part number is that it actually referred to a CAI.

It's a very solid setup also, theres rubber mounts that attach to the radiator support and the shield that's supplied. The only thing I dislike about it is, if you want to inspect the filter you have to remove the skirt under the front bumper to get access to it. Other than that it seems to be a great system. I just wish I had a way of recording the sound of it and posting it here ( man she howls )
Bullet85 08-29-2008, 08:28 PM Hmmmmmm.....that setup looks awful similiar lol.....nice intake man!!!!!
Quiet Lunatic 08-29-2008, 10:20 PM Nice, Very Nice. How long did it take to install?
DaZe831 08-29-2008, 11:08 PM intake looks really good!
Quiet Lunatic 08-30-2008, 06:29 AM That looks realy good, how long did it take to fit? Was the cost still 370something??
maskedavenger 08-30-2008, 06:41 AM Now THAT'S what a factory CAI is supposed to look like!!! I think they finally get it!!!
Almost winter here (A couple more months of Summerish weather and we're done) so I'll grab one next year for sure. It'll be my first purchase!!
maskedavenger
Brokay 08-30-2008, 05:50 PM It took a couple of hours to install it. Instructions say to use a hoist but it can still be done on the ground if you don't mind laying on your back.
The price was $362 plus freight.
Quiet Lunatic 08-30-2008, 05:52 PM Would removing the left tire make it easier to install? And removing the place wheel wells? Nice looking set up.
RES741CUE 08-30-2008, 09:48 PM wow i had NO idea this was a TRUE CAI!! Awesome!! but i am kind of worried about the dirt, water, snow, etc getting into the filter, any protection around it??
could you post a pic from under the car if possible?? thanks
Brokay 08-31-2008, 01:15 PM Would removing the left tire make it easier to install? And removing the place wheel wells? Nice looking set up.
The only benefit of removing the front tire would be that the removal of the clips that hold the wheel well to the lower panel (skirt ) would be alot easier.

After the shield from the kit is installed it protects the filter quite well. It basically boxes off the area between the wheel well and the lower skirt. It's not completely sealed off but it does limit the amount of dirt and what not you might get in that area.
I have about 35,000 km on my Avenger mind you I don't travel dirt roads, mostly highway and city driving, and when I removed the lower panel I had next to no dirt build up on inside of the panel. Of course this doesn`t mean no water will get in there.
If I can I`ll try to get a picture of the underside and post it.
RES741CUE 08-31-2008, 02:25 PM thanks brokay, that cleared up my worries!! :D gona call my dealer this afternoon!
Quiet Lunatic 09-01-2008, 04:10 PM Just thinking out aloud thought around come summer there will be a lot of heat radiating of the roads possibly sucking direct hot air ?????????
Quiet Lunatic 09-01-2008, 04:18 PM The only benefit of removing the front tire would be that the removal of the clips that hold the wheel well to the lower panel (skirt ) would be alot easier.I guess I should watch I word things. Yes that's what I meant.
ccconsulting 09-01-2008, 04:49 PM Just thinking out aloud thought around come summer there will be a lot of heat radiating of the roads possibly sucking direct hot air ?????????
I think any hot air from the roads is still going to be cooler then the air you would suck from an enclosed engine compartment.
Sphinx 09-02-2008, 10:31 AM That looks really good! I bet a turbo would fit just fine in the empty spot where the intake filter was... lol.
RTblack 09-02-2008, 11:33 AM Just thinking out aloud thought around come summer there will be a lot of heat radiating of the roads possibly sucking direct hot air ?????????
if its summer and 90 degrees out, no matter where you filter is your not finding cold air anywhere.
MSPAC 09-26-2008, 08:14 PM how does it sound did you notice a nice improvement?
I ordered mine today from my local dealer.
Strongit 10-15-2008, 03:06 PM I've been considering getting an intake for my Avenger for a while now and this looks like a great setup. I have two problems though:
1. I like driving through puddles. Does this system have an air bypass valve so that my engine won't go kablooey if I drive through them?
2. I have heard that cold air intakes have issues with ice in the winter. Seeing as I live in Canada, this could be a problem. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help in advance. I'd love to get this installed, but if it will cause problems due to my affinity for puddles and the cold weather, I'd rather not.
davect01 10-15-2008, 07:54 PM A lot depends on the location of the filter. If you locate the filter facing the ground, you must beware of large extended puddles. From what I can gather from the pictures, this filter will be higher up, so water should not be an issue. I have had an open filter for many years and never had a problem, even after a engine wash.
If you are worried there are filter covers that you can buy.
As for ice, I don not know, it rarely is a problem in Phoenix.
Strongit 10-16-2008, 10:30 AM Excellent, that's good to know. I'm going to get more info from the dealer tonight after work. They're holding some kind of customer appreciation thing with food and prizes and such, so I'll ask a few questions about performance upgrades. I'll let you know if I find out anything interesting about this CAI.
Jerry Bee 10-16-2008, 12:40 PM Wow that IS nice. Its definately next on my list.
I got mine ordered today. I was changing the air filter on last night and broke one of the clips trying to muscle the thing shut. I've always had trouble getting my stock air box getting it to latch. Rather that just replace the box, I decided to bit the bullet and put the CAI on.
daw000x1 11-21-2008, 12:31 AM Correcting what I stated. Mopar does make CAI, dealer gave wrong info. Works and sounds great. Ordered and intalled a few months ago. No real loss or gain in gas milage. Great gain in sound and HP.
RES741CUE 11-21-2008, 12:48 AM im afraid your dealer has no idea what they are talking about.. look through this thread and several others, people on the forum have it already installed and the part number is posted too
Quiet Lunatic 11-21-2008, 01:00 AM ya I have found do a little checking, dealerships are last to find things out a lot of times. They grit there teeth a lot with me because I hit so many web sites and generaly find stuff out months before them. lol got to love it lol
radrob 11-24-2008, 12:36 PM how convenent,i just got my m/c from chrysler and i was wondering how to break it in
kmb107 11-24-2008, 01:40 PM i got an intake for mine and ive never had a problem
i got mine from auto zone if you wanna know what the size is just ask
Strongit 12-05-2008, 05:14 PM I talked to a performance shop here in Calgary about a CAI for in the winter, and he said that ice and snow are generally not a problem with them. He said there are a lot of people who drive with them year round here.
Also, I looked further into an air bypass valve and I will definitely get one for this system. I just need to find one that will fit the 3.25" pipes, but it looks like it would fit nicely right where the first pipe meets the next beside the engine.
Here's what I'm talking about, AEM makes them for 2.25" up to 3" systems:

davect01 12-05-2008, 07:01 PM if its summer and 90 degrees out, no matter where you filter is your not finding cold air anywhere.
Wow, what would 90 degree summers be like. Try getting cold air in 115 degrees here in AZ!
I personally like the ram air setup for this car due to the slot provided for the stock snorkel. I have my filter aimed towards this gap and a homemade heat shield that should block 75 percent of the radiant heat.
The problem, at least in my mind is that while the air may be a few degrees cooler at the bottom, by the time the air travels the length of the metal intake and bypasses the radiator hoses, it is going to to warmed up considerably. I would prefer to get the most volume instead of worrying about the few degrees difference.
Any thoughts on this. I have no way of testing temperatures, so this is just my thinking. I added an insulation barrier on the radiator hose nearest the intake, and used PVC, all in an attempt to keep temps down.
crash06 12-30-2008, 09:22 PM is there any chance that you cold get a pick of wat it looks like underneath? and how much h/p did u gain also did u have to have mopar flash ur ecu?
DustyDuster 12-31-2008, 07:55 AM is there any chance that you cold get a pick of wat it looks like underneath? and how much h/p did u gain also did u have to have mopar flash ur ecu?
There is no need to reflash the ECU after installing an intake.
crash06 01-01-2009, 10:24 PM i got this new shorter filter from specter and im goin to try to do a lil project ill post a new topic and have pix showing it if i get it done . also found out that there is spark plugs available for for the 3.5 L there pulstar 5-7 heat range . thats some thing i was also wondering if that would be to much for the stock engine does any one no if thats still okay and wats the max u can push on this stock engine w/o upgrading
is there any chance that you cold get a pick of wat it looks like underneath? and how much h/p did u gain also did u have to have mopar flash ur ecu?
The filter is completely covered once installed. Here's a picture with the lower panel removed.
