1st Kill) late 80's Honda CRX, with a few mods. I gave them a headstart by about 15 ft and reached 60mph (cops patrol that road too much to go any higher) before they did and had them by about 30ft. My car is an 2.7L V6 SXT. For those that have not played with theirs yet, if you want to get them to really move off the line keep the transmission under a hard load in Drive and it will pull until the redline. Be sure to break the car in first and have everything hot (I had 11,000 mi when I ran it).

I'm finally over the 5k mark and feel it's pretty well broken in. I was driving to lunch an older (early 2000's maybe?) honda civic pulled up besides me at a red light going up a hill. When the light turned green, I heard him rev it and try to accelerate fast..I could hear the engine whining and him shifting through gears. By the time the front of my car was at the back door of his car, i realized what he was doing as I was just enjoying listening to some hair metal on sirius radio and punched it. Needless to say by the time he hit 5th gear i was already in front of him and he leaving him behind. He changed lanes and got behind me. 2 lights later, turns out he turned into the same shopping complex with several restaurants and businesses as I did. after i got my tasty sub, and was leaving the parking lot i saw his car sitting there complete with an angry hornet muffler. I guess the hornets weren't angry enough that day.

my buddys honda del sol, not sure what year, 98? maybe? he said that his car was way faster than my R/T.... we go to the long stretch of deserted road, im at 160Kmh.... and he must have still been at like 100.... needless to say, he respects my car now.. hahaha

Well I beat up on a oldsmobile intrigue the other day. lol. The funny part was I really wasn't trying to race, but apparantly he thought I was. Horrible shifting by myself and I still walked away from him..

Beat a Mustang GT... I wanna say it was an '04.
It was fun... haha... It was close but I had him by a few inches.

Just wait untill you run into the almighty Mustang boys. They think their stang's are the only real car out there. You should see their faces when you beat them. The V6 stang's you can beat all day long. An unmodded earily to late 90's V8 stang, you can beat also. If you get a GT 4.6L V8 of todays make. Just keep laughing at them, you'll get them so mad, that when they hit the gas all they do is tire spin and your gone. By the time they get their tire spin under control, its to late.

Having owned an '01 Mustang GT with an automatic no less and an '03 Mach 1 w/5 speed I think I'm qualified to say, if you beat a late model GT (99+) either the other guy wasn't racing, flat out can't drive, or its a V6 dressed up to look like a GT hehe.

Before the flaming starts I'd like to say for the record, I think the Avenger is a great car. I love my R/T, so please don't think I'm knocking it.

These Avengers are quick, not fast, but quick. If you learn how to drive it, you will amaze a few people. I know alot of people that have taken down the stang with the SRT6 and a non SRT6 Crossfire. Having drove the Crossfire before (I have bought one) I can say that the Avenger is faster off the line. This is one area that the mustang can not have taken away from it. They are fast off the line, but there top end is crap. This is why the Hemi is god on the strip. Before my taking intrest in cars, I drag raced a modded Z1000 that did 145mph in the 1/4 and 160 in the mile back in the late 70's and earily 80's. So I do know what speed and raceing is. The problem with the stang was trying to keep it running. Never had a problem with any of the Dodge's or my Chevy Nova SS. I'll still take them any day over a Mustang. I'll race any car, if I lose than I lose.

Not sure why you assumed my post was directed at you but, No I did not misread your post and much like you said everyone has a right to their voice. I was simply stating my experience with the car that was the current topic of discussion.

That said perhaps I should state for the record that I am not a Mustang or any other type of fan boy Mopar included. I've owned close to a hundred cars at this point in my life and have plenty of opinions good and bad about everyone of them. Hell, my first car was a '69 Dart with a 383/3 on the tree. :D :smiley_thumbs_up:

I know what you mean tho, I've owned so many late 60's-early 70's muscle cars at this point I can't remember them all (wish I still had half of them now as well heh). I'm certainly happy to see cars like the Challenger, new Camaro etc coming out as well. The technology/safety of today combined with the style and muscle of then is awesome in my book!

By the way, the Dart was a ton of fun, specially at 16 but the fastest/funnest car I've ever owned was a '65 Corvair with a stroked small block Chevy transplanted into it. :D

Just tell him to get moving or you know someone that is going to show up with a 69 440 Charger with a supercharger and pumpping out over 650 hp. If he lose's, then he must get all your mods done at his expence.

The 2.4L is a very good engine.

Had a little kill/fun last night...Was fun, more due to the conditions...My wife and I were heading up to do some shopping at LL Bean, it was snowing a bit, the roads were snow covered and slick...I stop at a light, and this car pulls up behind me, then backs up and pulls up next to me...The driver kept looking over at us...He had been way behind me, but I could tell he was coming at a good clip as we approached the light...The road merges into the lane I was in not too long after the light...

It's a relatively new Subaru wagon, not a WRX or anything, with like 3 kids in it...They probably thought since they had AWD, that I would spin when I left the light and they would leave me, laughing that they had beat an R/T...Well, since I have trusty AWD, I was thinking to myslef...I dont think so (My wife at this point is rolling her eyes knowing what is coming next)...The light turns green, we take off, both hard on the gas...My R/T is slightly sideways looking for all the traction it can get, banging through 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and we just left them...They ended up merging in a ways behind me :hah:and never even got close to us again...It wasn't even close, and I knew it wasn't going to be...I just love it that not many people know that you can get the Avenger in AWD...Probably not the smartest thing in those kind of conditions, but there weren't many people on the road...

Oh and a big 6.4L Triton V8 Badge on the fender.

I have the 08 RT AWD, so I put it down into Auto-Stick, and when that light turned I rode first to 60 km/h (35 mph) and second to 95 km/h (60 mph), I looked over and there was no sign of him - looked in the mirror and here he is, truck running crossways, barely keeping it from fishtailing.

It was about that time my wife schreeched my name at the top of her lungs and I realized I was going quite as fast as I was - by my calibrated eyeball I probably did 0 - 60 in about 4 seconds, including a shift.

about a month ago i was stopped at a red light, first in line in the left lane waiting to make a left. Some beat up 98ish dark red nissan maxima pulls beside me in the right lane then continues to put his car sideways right in front of me, half sticking out in the intersection. He turns around and just laughs. Just to be a jerk i pulled up right on his side so i was basically in his driver side door. I look at him and just smile. i keep moving up until I'm about to hit him and he starts freaking out and goes through the red light. I was content with this and let it go. So i make the left and hes on the side of the road so as i pass him i wave, i think that pissed him off a little more. We get to the next light and i had my window rolled down and he rolls down his passenger window and says to me "YO! whatcha got in there?" and continues to rev his engine in neutral with his little farter in the back, needless to say his car was shaking more than a wet dog. After that he didn't even let me say anything back as he attempted peeling out, failing terribly. I almost felt bad for the guy because he got a kinda head start with the peel out when the light was red but didn't catch the road until it was green and i was going. I think i was just getting up to 60 when i look in my side view mirror and his car is just shaking uncontrollably and he had to slow down to a crawl, the road bends so i couldn't tell if he had to pull over or not. I just find it funny how he thought he had even the slightest chance with his 4-wheeled red rust box.

I work with a guy that has been on a ride with me when I was testing the balls of the 3.5. He own's a 84 Mustang with a stroker engine build up, 4 speed, posi rear end. He just bought it and wants to race me I will do it in a safe place and post results. Normaly he would win for sure. My advantages are as follow.
1. Inexpereanced racer
2. Over powered under tired ( don't hook up at all)
3. Needes fine tuning yet ( he wants be me do, lol I will wait till after race lol)

i had an agility kill the other week,, had a f-150 riding my ass on the on ramp of the highway, well he shot out real quick and got around me right at the bottom of the ramp and got into the left lane, well he started doing like 70 down the highway and then got into the right lane, well i pull aside of him and my g.f gave him a wave and we were off, it was pretty close in the beginning but he coudlnt keep up with driving threw traffic, truck was too big to really get around like it should, and with the quick acceleration of th r/t he had no chance of catching up, we pretty much left him in the dust

I took my charger out tonight, the v6 version w/ 250hp...I think our R/T's can take them...It doesn't seem like it has the quickness the avenger has...long run, it would probably eat us...but just giving a heads up :D the v6 versions if the charger is badged is SE (Blank) - SE Plus (Blank but has a side badge 3.5L) - SXT, if it says R/T don't do it...and if they have a hood scoop, don't do it cuz you will just get really owned lol

But I am only saying this in case the big brother decides to pick on the little brother :)

By the way, I haven't been to the track in about a year and a half now so this is the '03-06's. I'd say an '08 might even be slightly faster.

you have to remember that a stock 350 runs high 14's all day long i didnt say i beat it bad it was like 2 or 3 bumpers so it was close plus the avenger has a better high end power to it most dont know in the slap shift mode. but most would be leary to think a avenger can beat a 350 but stock to stock is driver.

Now that you mention it, maybe you would know :D Is the slapstick supposed to autoshift from 1st to 2nd? I know there's an update to the trans for it, but if that gets rid of being able to shift to whenever you want, I don't want it

Not sure where you live, but I can pull out timeslips sometime this week showing runs against 350's. I live about 300' above sealevel so if you live higher that maybe the case but, here a well driven auto 350z is a low 14 second car. I've even seen a few run high 13's with if memory serves the best ran a 13.79.

Not sure where you live, but I can pull out timeslips sometime this week showing runs against 350's. I live about 300' above sealevel so if you live higher that maybe the case but, here a well driven auto 350z is a low 14 second car. I've even seen a few run high 13's with if memory serves the best ran a 13.79.

i am not trying to argue that i just say what happened to me one night in my avenger thats all

Our tire guy (he is a street racer) brought in a 300M I asked to race . He declined. Yesterday he brought a Charger 3.5 I again asked him to race, he again declined. He told me they both were pooches compaired to my R/T. What the heck does he have to bring in a Viper to race me? :hah:wimp

Well i took the challenge of a 2008 Honda Civic SI, everything stock other than he had a cold air intake. *note ive got less than 500 miles on the Avenger* We decided that we would mark off a 1/4 mile on the airstrip. hehe

(no fender badge - non hemi) lined up with me (65 mph speed limit) road speed increased to 75 mph. Clear road ahead of us. He smiled and we both dumped it I could hear his engine bark ( I had window open and I still have the quiet stock exaust) and I just walked away from him (I didn't use A/T eather). :) He never pulled up to me again. :kap:

Ya and when I seen no side badge I know it was eather the 2.7 or 3.5 so thought what the heck. Eather way it is a heavy car for a v-6 just like the 300M and Charger.

yea the r/t shoudl be able to beat any of those chargers, 300s or magnums with the 3.5l they all have too much weight to um

I figured that but wasn't sure of how there trany or rear end was geared. BUT now I know. :3-smoke: I haven't had many Stangs with V-6 or smaller V-8's or Imports mess with me so far very few, lots of people down here have heard about how the R/T is a sleeper and won't challange you. :( lol I have been getting eye balled by people with the Hemi's and Cobra's and it is getting tempting just for the kicks lol May have to do some mods then maybe I can take them up on it lol. We see.

Tonight my buddy and I (he drives a VW GTI VR6, lowered, exhaust, chipped) pulled up to a double left turn onto the highway. Light turned green we both gunned it. I won by 4 lengths before we even hit the highway. Ended the race doing 80 or so.

You know I am starting to wonder about the reports in mags and by Dodge about the R/T. It seams I am not the only one that it seams the car is out performing what it is reported to do. Eather that or we are better drivers than the testers.

I think they are just looking for a domestic v6 to put down. Heaven forbid they knock a GM product probably because they are #1 in vehicle sales, but who knows...they are in their own world - all I know is the R/T is fast as all get out and people are intimidated by it.

But now that I just mentioned that, maybe they want to build-down the R/T so all the stangs, tuners, whatever else see an R/T and they are like oh whatever - then to their suprise they see your rear and it eventually becomes the talk of the v6 world! Conspiracy theories! lol

Not a kill but not a loss eather. Some 2 door hatch back import. We left a light and do to fact I stayed next to him he thought I wanted to race. It was obvease he had lots of performace mods done includeing a turbo. He floored it and started to pull away. I figure what the heck so I also put it down. I started to slowly catch him but not to quick. Tammy said don't race here so I shut it down and sure enough as I shut down a squad pasted us going oppeset direction. I wish we would have been on other side of town and both put it down at same time I think it would have been a good race. :smileup: O and by the way lol notest I have to trim the floor mat
( after market) we have a V buldge that catches dirt in them and it sits right below the gas peddle. :( funny thing is I am lossing 5/8 of an inch throddle peddle travel. oups.:4-looney:

We get to the edge of the city going about 100km/h(62m/h) and the trafic clears up, so this guy starts hugging my bumper for a few min- pissing me off, then he guns it and pulls out to my passenger side and starts to pass, I figured what the hell and floored it. I guess his governor must have kicked in at 190kh/h (118m/h) cause when I passed him doing 220kh/h (137mp/h) and flipped him the bird, he wouldn't even look at me.

Fastest I have ever driven and dam was it a rush. surprising my avenger was still accelerating when I let off the gas. Wondering where the governor is on these things?

I knew this question was come-ing. I use a performance meter to record my data. You have one don't you ? I've also had custom cam's installed and a computer tune. Just look around and you can find custom performance shops that can do the work if you want to pay to play. I come from a racing town (Oswego NY) that has many engine builders and tuners. Mopars are The Thing around here. I have to get more pics of the R/T up soon as I have been given the chance to sell it.

If the price is right anything is for sale. I would need another car for a summer project though. I'm a believer in you can't take your money with you in the end, so have fun with it. I have gone through three cars in a two year period. My 06 Dak I built up into one fast truck with a Paxton on it. Still it did not please me, so I bought an 07 300 with a Hemi. To big of a car for me. So I got an 07 R/T Charger. Drove it for one week and found an SRT6 Xfire. I now know what I've been looking for. A fast two door Coupe. I now have two Crossfire Coupes. The SRT6 only has a build number of 2,026 total. It is a very rare car. My 04 Xfire Coupe is #4284 of 28,000 built in that year. I guess I've found what I've been looking for, and that was two door Coupes. So if the price is right than yes the R/T AWD is gone. If I do keep it, it will be my back up car for road course racing. I find I'm liking road course racing alot. My daily driver is an 07 Jeep Commander.

Hmm I would have to agree with you, I really wanted a couple but couldn't get away from the avenger lol - I do think though if they do make a SRT6 avenger, I will have to trade up to it.
