Oil light comes on with turning to first position/start.

I'd try wiggling the shifter might not be making the safety switch

that was actually the very first thing that came to mind for some reason, i shift5ed through all the gears several times with no luck. i have the center console apart now so i can see under the shifter anything i should be looking for?

Well, today when I left suddenly the engine light came on. Made it to get gas (did leave the car running), drove to the shop explained the engine light.

He asked if I just got gas...................

They did not have time to fix it today, need to see them tomorrow morning.

are you able to lightly tap the starter then try to crank it? Could be a dead spot in the starter. Is your shifter cable intact? If you put the car in N can you push it?

man tthats a bummer dude i would definitly try the tapping routine as mspac stated always worked on the old chevys and yotas . also if it is a stick can you pop it ? guess that would have been obvious . hmm also check your power connection to the starter it is possible the wire broke or is corroded . hope ya get her fixed soon eat some chicken noodle soup and get a healthy dose of vitamin c tonite so you feel better in the morn to tackle this problem.

thanks for the help everyone. it was the starter got it replaced yesterday and it ran fine until this morning. it turned and wouldnt start!!! i had to go see my son and the new starter has a lifetime warranty so i said **** it and just cranked that mf for like 20 sec and kept pressing the gas, sure i burnt it up a little but i got her started. check engine light flashed for about 30 sec and then finally turned off and back to running fine now but im still pretty pissed about this ive had the engine/trans both rebuilt, changed the distributor, plugs, wires, power steering, water pump, ive put the factory wheels back on. suspension and exhaust or the only major things i can think of that i havent had replaced yet and still cant just get a few care free months (or even days for that matter)

anyways done with the rant just wondering what could cause a misfire for a few sec then go away?

im not a huge fan of this car but i want it to be my daily driver because my other cars cost way more for parts and draw too much attention. does anyone have a 2.5 that goes at least 6 mos at a time without having to do more than routine maintenance? maybe i should start a poll

You likely flooded and the CEL was a misfire due to the flooding.

I remember reading you put yours away for the winter.... is this just because you don't wanna put that bad venge out in the winter weather wherever it is ur located?? An obviously this isn't your daily driver..

So the car starts just fine when it's warm but I let it sit again and hade the same problem. I'm thinking fuel system, any thoughts on possible fuel problems that would become more pronnounced in the cold? Filter?pump? Maybe a relay? They all look easy to replace so hopefully I can get this fixed

the pump is under the backseat and the filter is behind the tank??

check the ohms at the coil. my coil went bad on a new distributor and had the same issue

Mine sits 2/3 inches off the ground , Expecting 6/8 inches of snow tonight Hmmm no idea why I'd park it for the winter...

Fuel= pop the rear seat and put a meter on the pump (drivers side hatch) Verify it has 12 volts and it stays 12 volts, if it goes away it can be either the fuel pump relay or the Auto Shut down relay.
The CPS is prone to heat ssues and dies when it gets hot

i will say although i havent had this problem to your extent every once and a while mine will just crank and crank for like 10 seconds until i mash the gas and it will start...i put tons of work into my front and rear breaking system already, thank god i do these things for a living, i couldnt imagine having to pay someone to fix mine as much as i've had to already....like the time my shifter broke at the mall and i got all mcgyver style on my consol only to find a spring no smaller then you'd find in a bic pen broke, then after fixing a week later i get the recall! hahaha HAVE BETTER LUCK BRO!!! like the old saying "if you buy a dodge, your gonna work on a dodge"
