JmanRTnit 01-21-2008, 09:36 PM 24 here, looks like theres a few more than I thought in my age group, I feel pretty lucky at my age to be driving such a nice car. My dad says im spoiled, "well ya know son, i was twice your age before i ever could afford a new car like you" Do any of you in my age bracket get dirty looks by middle aged men at the gas station or at the grocery store when they see you get out of such a nice car. I get that the odd time. You can tell under there breath,, "you little b*stard, think your a hotshot dont ya" lol,,, sorry pops, times are changin, No offence to anyone in here, some of the more experienced guys in here have given me lots of advice and pointers, and hope on dealing with them for a few years to come until the next car. That's their problem they're getting old,Not your's. I remember when my brother and I were at the Motor Vehicle dept. and this old guy was behind my younger brother. He was saying some crap and we have no idea why. I said "What did you say?" He said something about young and whatever. I said you better shut up you old fart before I knock you on your ass. My Mom who's 68 still runs into rude older people. My Mother says "You're never too old to get knocked on your ass". My Mother and I are very nice people, Maybe that's the Irish part coming out:D They also think because they're older everyone has to bow down to them. aeromaestro 01-31-2008, 08:07 PM Well, I'm 35. It seems marketing, once again, was off the mark of the intended customer age group. robof568 02-10-2008, 11:13 AM 24 here, looks like theres a few more than I thought in my age group, I feel pretty lucky at my age to be driving such a nice car. Yes!!!!! I get dirty looks all the time but not just by the old. I love the "Must be a drug dealer comments" When your under 30 and successful people assume you got it handed to you or you stole it. So I just turn up my tunes and let them talk about that too! ghostznightmarez 02-10-2008, 07:24 PM 22 here, i hate when ppl think that your mommy and daddy always bought you your car, they dont realize that you have worked since you were 15 or 16 and actually saved your money instead of spending it on stupid ****, Sphinx 02-11-2008, 01:05 PM You know what, look at the majority of owners. In my 20's, my newest car was a 4 year old Chevette diesel. Talk about getting strange looks at the stop light. People looked at it like it was getting ready to throw a rod. . . josho66 03-01-2008, 02:14 PM 26, be 27 in June. Well it is different times now, I mean minimum wage is like what, 8 something an hour? I can remember when minimum wage was only like 3.25 or so, I'm sure most people now make more in one year than what the avenger costs. SmurfGuy 03-04-2008, 12:58 AM I was 19 when I bought mine last may. I was also 19 when I sold it to myself. Quiet Lunatic 03-18-2008, 09:15 AM Ahh the good old days..I think I made $3.15 at one time lol.I think my first job it was $2.45 an hour for working my butt off. Quiet Lunatic 03-18-2008, 09:18 AM LOL I would probably have to agree! I bet you got a steal on it :DI hope you didn't sneak in hidden charges and a higher interest rate or something. I can remember when minimum wage was only like 3.25 or so, I'm sure most people now make more in one year than what the avenger costs. I started out at about $5/hr when I started working at age 12 (for family) then it I think it was about $5.25/hr when I got my working papers at 14. Can't remember exactly. It all seems soooo long ago, lol. 16 years later, I'm up to $9.50/hr. I make less than $20k a year, but because I'm careful with how I spend my money, and my living expenses are reasonable right now, I'm able to comfortably afford my car. It's refreshing to read the posts by the under 20's on here. :smiley_thumbs_up: Nice to see some young adults do indeed have a good work ethic. I work with a lot of 17-20 year olds that seem to think everything should just be handed to them. Boy i cant wait to get older... hface119 03-29-2008, 08:24 PM 19, and I'm an assistant manager at a restaurant. I saved for the down payment myself, and I established a good credit history on my own and managed to get approved for my Avenger on my own. My parents have bad credit because they lived above their means, so it was important for me to do it all on my own. I live away at school, and I work 30 hours a week at my job while being a full time student. I do rely on my parents for insurance purposes.. it's much less of an impact on my wallet being on their policy. I still pay for my insurance myself, I just am listed on their policy to keep costs down. I am proud of myself as well.. I wish I would have bought the car instead of leased, though. But I really can't afford that high of a payment. It was important to lease first, maybe buy it out later. awdonuts 03-30-2008, 01:07 PM Same Here Hface. I also am a full time student, work 40 hours a week, and also have established the credit to sign for the avenger myself. i like the feeling of independence and being able to say "yup its mine." and if you think about it there is no way your parents can try to turn around and take your car away for doing something wrong. if they tried such a thing i would say go ahead take it, after you take over the payments...:gy: ViperTomcat 04-02-2008, 02:16 AM 22 here, 23 in about 40 days or so. I can see their reaction when I get out of the car, its like what is the old fart doing driving such a sporty looking thing. Well done and congrats to all you young people who have done it on your own. We need more young people with that kind of initiative and work ethic. My dad just looks and me and looks at it and says "wow son u actually did it thats a nice car" But man the banks being tight as **** right now was so hard to get a loan. Couldent sleep for like about a month trying to get a car and then the Avenger came outta nowhere. Feels good to kno that are other 16-19 year olds out there that have the same kinda respect level about everything in life. How nothing comes easy and u gotta work for something u really want, not just have mommy and daddy help u out when times get rough. Quiet Lunatic 07-21-2009, 09:24 AM Just turned 19 last month and had 2 jobs for about a year. At least most people don't think I look anywhere near my age. It blows their mind when I tell them I have 3 adult children, 2 of which are in college. We all age, the best you can hope for is to age well so that's good. I'm not off too a good start on that myself, lol. I can tell you I don't see a lot of young people driving Avengers in my area. So maybe that's not representative of the age of Avenger owners so much but more the age of people who have had the desire to join the forum. That probably makes more sense since you know how much we younger guys love our internets lol. Metspride129 04-05-2011, 11:18 PM turned 24 the end of Jan. i've owned nothing but American (ford, lincoln and now dodge). hated my ford, loved my lincolns (3 of them), but am in love with my dodge =) Dimnash 10-30-2011, 01:34 AM I was surprised to see 46 I'm 19 and get a lot of dirty looks from older people cuz my cars nice 07SPRBEE 11-03-2011, 08:37 PM I put my wifes age group, since I bought it for her...
