Sphinx 01-18-2008, 04:20 PM Has anyone seen the dash of the Stormtrooper?? It is sweet! Here is what it looks like:

Shadowvenger 01-18-2008, 04:26 PM That is one sweet dash. Of course I would expect nothing less after seeing the body of the stormtrooper.
Quiet Lunatic 01-18-2008, 08:04 PM At some point and time it will be available from Mopar custom. The Avenger is here to stay. Within the next three yrs you will see less plastic being used in the cabin area. There is already much talk going on behind closed doors about the changes that need to be done.
davect01 01-18-2008, 09:23 PM My major complaint with the interior is the air vents. Very cheap feeling!
Bullet85 01-19-2008, 06:44 AM I dont like all the red and white in the stormtrooper. Thats just me but i do like the 3 mopar gauges on the dash, i wonder if u can buy them now hmmmm......
Quiet Lunatic 01-19-2008, 08:32 AM Yes you can buy the Mopar gauges. Just place your order at any Chrysler/Dodge dealer. I have even seen then on line.
Bullet85 01-19-2008, 08:40 AM But is there a piller for are car to have aftermarket gsuges yet?
Quiet Lunatic 01-19-2008, 08:49 AM You can find universal ones on the net. I have found a dash mounted pod that should work. I'll try and find the site again.
Bullet85 01-19-2008, 10:18 AM Awsome post it up and ill look, now does it post on the dash or a side pilla near the door frame?
JmanRTnit 01-20-2008, 09:02 AM im with bullet on the red,, doesnt seem to go. dont like it.
But those upper gauges are sick. id love to put those in mine.
What would the gauges be monitoring? or just for show,
Bullet85 01-20-2008, 11:16 AM U can get gauges that monitor anything pretty much
Quiet Lunatic 01-20-2008, 11:30 AM im with bullet on the red,, doesnt seem to go. dont like it.

I will be installing an water temp, oil pressur(sp), air to fule ratio and voltage gauges.
I'll post up the potos of the gauges I'm using later.
Quiet Lunatic 01-20-2008, 12:11 PM Heres a quick snap shot of what gauges I have. I had bought these for my 06 Dak, but traded that in for the Avenger R/T. I still need to pick up the voltage gauge. The one I was not a Faze. I'm removing one of the temp gauges, there are two shown in the photo.
Bullet85 01-20-2008, 01:41 PM What pillar are u gonna use? a universal? i bought a universal one on ebay. Now i just dont know wich gauges to use everyone i tlked to says autometer is the best. I still have not yet decided.
Sphinx 01-20-2008, 07:36 PM I am on the fence about these gauges. I want a car that looks mean, and functions great! But I am not sure I want to clutter up the inside on the car with the various gauges. I suppose the way I feel about it is, if it was meant to be there, Dodge would have put it there, or at least had an option for it. That is my own opinion though.
Bullet85 01-21-2008, 08:56 AM Well if they ever come out with a turbo or supercharger u r gonna have to manage the amount of boost u r puting out with gauges or a boost controller one or the other. Iv never seen a car or truck without trubo/supercharged motors without some kind of monitor. I think it would look great inside on the dash or pillar not to cluttered because on the inside to me it looks to plain, but my opinion. But if u get it done right it will look great.

I like to keep track of everything while I'm driving. The water temp gauge that's on the car is not that dead on, ( I checked it with an Actron OBDII systems reader) and there is no oil pressure gauge which is very good to have. I guess I'm use to the old days when the manufactures put these gauges in the cars.
Sphinx 01-21-2008, 09:46 AM I can see why you would want a boost gauge. I have wanted to put some gauges in some of my other cars for oil pressure, and such, but I just haven't wanted to mustard up for the equipment. Bullet, keep us posted on what you do. I am also eager to see what body kit you pick out.

I have to agree with you on this Bullet85. The Stormtrooper uses an NA 4.0L, and from the feed back I've been getting, this is the motor that just may be used for the next SRT6. Myself, I think that Dodge will stay with the 3.5L motor untill the new Phoenix Engines start to show up. Checkout the link below :

Sphinx 01-21-2008, 10:32 AM Sounds like they have a nice engine there. I may have to trade in the wifes car for something like that...

I am having a custom made dash mounted pod.

A V6 with MDS; that will be an industry first. I wonder how smooth it will it be without some type of counterbalance when its in the economy mode.

There has been talk about this for some time. It would never work for an SRT6 though. We still have a few more years untill it comes. By then I feel Chrysler will have it all figured out. I think GM already has a jump on this tech, and they will have an MDS V6 out within the next two years if not sooner. This is good for Chrysler as they can learn form what ever problems GM has. As much as I hate to say it, GM has the money to R&D anything before Chrysler. I only hope Chrysler can get back to how they once use to be. A leader in car and engine design. Its about time that Hemi takes back the gold from the GM LS series engines. Hemi has been re-designeing the 5.7L to produce more HP and TQ. Maybe someone within the higher ups are doing something.
Bullet85 01-21-2008, 12:39 PM Very nice cant wait to c it.
AvengerRT 01-22-2008, 12:08 PM Getting back the the pods on the stormtrooper...I would like to have a setup like that in my car as well....
jugahdor 01-24-2008, 11:01 AM hey i got a question about the dash of the ST, you know how they put cloth over the plastic parts of the dash, wouldn't that stop the air bags from coming out if you get into a car accident??
Sphinx 01-24-2008, 11:50 AM that may, but at the force that the airbags come out, I am sure it would just move the fabric out of the way. Have you ever seen an airbag deploy?? I am sure they will move that fabric right out of the way, or into the way of the passenger...
Bullet85 01-24-2008, 01:19 PM HMMMMMMMMMM thats a good question Jugahdor
Quiet Lunatic 01-24-2008, 01:26 PM Did you know that all R/T's come with side seat air bag's. The air bags are in the seat. So my opinion is,...if they can put air bags within the side of the seat, than the dash coverd in cloth should be no problem.
Bullet85 01-24-2008, 02:29 PM thats right i completly forgot about the seats have air bags in them
Quiet Lunatic 01-24-2008, 08:31 PM The Avenger is a very safe car in a crash. I liked the idea that it had the built in seat air bags.
jugahdor 01-24-2008, 10:21 PM yah but the airbags are mostlikely neer where the stiches are of the seats so that the presure of the air bag would rip out the stiches.
Quiet Lunatic 01-24-2008, 10:32 PM The designers would make sure the air bags in the dash would work.
jugahdor 01-25-2008, 08:37 AM The designers would make sure the air bags in the dash would work.
lol i meant if i was to do it my self. to put fabric over the dash would the air bag still come out.:4-dontknow::confused:
Sphinx 01-25-2008, 09:11 AM lol. I suppose we all thought you were talking about the other car. You may want to see where the airbag actually comes out, and maybe weaken that area of the fabric. Just to make sure it breaks when the airbag deploys.
Quiet Lunatic 01-25-2008, 10:18 AM With the force of the air bags, it will rip through that fabric like it was butter if the fabric is gluded good and tight. All you'll have to is place a slit into that area as Sphinx has stated. The dash openning up during deployment will also help in ripping through.
Sphinx 01-25-2008, 10:26 AM The only problem I see with laying fabric over the airbag is the airbag would somehow get caught up in the fabric and deploy towards the front glass instead of the passenger seat. That is really the only problem I can think of. You may think about using velcro to adhere the fabric to the dash. I am not sure I would use glue.
Quiet Lunatic 01-25-2008, 11:10 AM Look up on how the air bags deploy in the Avenger. The fabric would have to be made of steel to redirect the air bag due to the force of the deploying air bag. Now think about it, you place a slit into the area of were the air bag is located, ofcourse your not going to heavily glue the fabric in that area.
jugahdor 01-25-2008, 02:56 PM hhm velcro is a verry good idea thnx, n regando where can i find out where exactly does the airbags come out of
Quiet Lunatic 01-25-2008, 03:58 PM Velcro is not a good idea. With the force of an air bag depolyment, it would rip the fabric off and put into your face. Look and learn, watch this video. If you donot learn something about the force of an air bag depolyment, than you never will.

Sphinx 01-25-2008, 09:35 PM Thanks for sharing the video. It seems like either way you look at it, the airbag will deploy! So I would say the problem is solved. Just don't bolt metal to the dash! ;)
Quiet Lunatic 01-25-2008, 10:28 PM It was the best way to make others understand how powerfull an air bag depolyment is.
jwrico 01-30-2008, 09:01 PM I used to work with a guy who was a passenger during a collision. He threw his arm up as he saw the accident about to happen and the force of the airbag broke his lower right arm. They have alot of power when inflating. I wouldn't recomend putting anything on the dash where it deploys, or you might wind up with it imprented on your forhead or something.:4-dontknow:

2008AvngrRT 04-26-2008, 10:59 PM Has anyone noticed the Stormtrooper appears to have Paddle Shifters?
markio 04-26-2008, 11:33 PM Yeah, it def. looks like it does, I'm sure that is what it is. I bet that thing is fun with a 4.0L engine, intake, exhaust, and paddle shifters. It may have more goodies than that, I can't remember.
DutchAvenger 04-27-2008, 01:27 AM My opinion about extra gauges is that when you keep your car stock, the readouts by the car's own computer will do fine, but if you opt for some serious tweeking under the hood, performance may bypass the limits of the onboard system and you will want to monitor the things that are living under the hood.
kcavenger24 05-04-2008, 08:55 PM I like the gauges and the white looks great. I think I am going to keep my chrome shifter bracket around the shifter.
Sphinx 05-05-2008, 08:03 PM Hey all... did anyone else catch what was on the steering column??

Are you just reposting about the paddle shifters? Or is there something else that I am not seeing?
Sphinx 05-05-2008, 09:01 PM Oops... I read through all the posts, and I didn't catch that one... Sorry about that. Yeah it was about the paddle shifters.
kcavenger24 05-07-2008, 11:04 AM I bet that thing is fun to drive with those paddle shifters...
