Loud clicking from dashboard

Hey everyone..My air blend actuator (I think) is making a load clicking noise from behind the dash. This problem started about 3 months ago but I hadn't heard it since then. I have been using the a/c but keeping the selector on just one setting. Tonight when I got in the car, it barely started up and that clicking noise came on super loud. The check engine light came on also and the clock reset to 12:00. I checked it again a couple hours later and it wouldn't even start, but the clicking noise continued. Any ideas? Could that drain my battery or is the noise like it is now because the bad battery? I live in Arizona and it was 115° today! I am planning on getting it towed to the dealership tomorrow but needed some info so they don't try and sell me something I don't need. My car is a 2011 Dodge Avenger Mainstreet. 70k miles. Please help. Thanks.

Yes it's the original battery. I understand it could just be old and need replacing, but why is the loud clicking noise from the dash going nuts at the same time. It never made that noise upon start-up, just when I was moving the a/c settings. Also I was able to start the car barely, then about 2 hrs later it was dead.

Most all of the earlier Avenger(4dr.) models have been plagued with this issue, do a search about blend door motor's and their fixes. there are some VERY GOOD threads posted here on the forum. And yes and that is why Lazy people have electrical problems. I know it is in a poor location, But many other makes of cars are just as bad or worse!

Welcome there Las Vegas John, I guess in your climate area you can get away with that! but many of us live in constantly changing temp areas and need full range of heating/cooling available. Drop by the newbie check in page and introduce yourself and Avenger to the whole Forumz Family(we are world wide)! And what motor thunders under the hood of that 2012?
