So while poking around on RockAuto.com I came across a 2013 Journey Crew model having 330mm front rotors and 328mm rear rotors. So I did a little more digging. I been having issues with my big brake system I put together, not enough pressure coming from the master cylinder to the calipers. I been searching high and low for a master cylinder that I could adapt. The closest I could come up with is an SRT8 master cylinder and booster, but I'd have to fab new lines. I'm feeling a little lazy for that project. Long story short.. I looks like the Journey Crew has a 1.5" piston in its master cylinder. We have a 13/16" master cylinder.. should be plenty. 1.5" is larger than the SRT8 master cylinder. I'm planning on ordering the Journey master cylinder on my next pay period..
"DodgeThis" is working on getting the parts now for his conversion/upgrade. Hopefully he will post some pics of his progress when he gets the ball rolling
I think it should, tricky part is getting ahold of them, I tried at my dealer and for them to get the parts, I need to have VIN off if SRT4-Caliber, which aren't as common as the Neon is in these parts. If I wanted factory calipers, fhat isn't too big of a deal since my Sister has a Super Track Pack Challenger R/T Classic, which appears to use those calipers (and 20" rims).
The SRT4 Caliber's front struts are different than the Avenger. In order for you to use a Caliber mounting bracket, you would need to change out the whole strut assembly. The Avenger's front struts are "ONLY" for the "JS" body cars from what I can research. I have not found any other Chrysler product that uses the same struts.
The Caliber caliper brackets are different on how they mount to the strut. I searched and had my local parts store pull caliper brackets off the shelf from, Neons/Calibers/Chargers/Magnum's/Journey's...etc....and nothing matches the Avenger brackets.
If your skeptical on what I post part number wise, I'm probably about 90% correct when it comes to part number research and interchangeability. Now since I'm no longer employed at Chrysler at the moment(medical reasons) as a parts manager I can't walk to my shelf and pull parts off of it anymore. I can still use my local parts store for interchangeability as I walk in asking what I want to see as I look up the info I need using OE information and researching interchanges.
My experience so far is off about 3years as of now as I've been out of work, but I still use my previous experiences and resources in trying to find the correct part for any given application.
I've searched and ordered numerous parts that were recommended as the "Solution" to upgrade the Avenger front brakes and the final conclusion as posted above is the Avenger/200 are the only models that use this brake caliper mounting bracket that gives you the option of the 13.3" rotors.
The additional parts needed are from standard applications, you can actually walk in to a local parts store and state you have the 340mm front rotors and they will be able to look them up for you with out any issues. The brake hose is the questionable part. I posted the part numbers I used as they are about 90+% close to what is needed for the upgrade.
Of course if you get a braided "Russel" style brake hose, those numbers would change also
One last thing as well, my kid Sister has a 2014 Challenger R/T Classic that has the "Super Track Pack" suspension and brake package, while it has the bigger rotors, would the calipers on her car be the same as what you posted for this conversion as well?
I don't even have calipers or hoses yet! Think I may go for Mopar remans, if Rock Auto's description is right, they have pads and hardware included for a couple hundred dollars per caliper.
