I just discovered some, what looks like oil, spots on my drive way.

Opened the hood and saw that the coolant didn't look good. It was brownish and when I tested it l, it had a 0° freezing point. The brownish sludge is also all over the reservoir as well. Real nasty looking stuff.

What the back is it?

It's it oil mix in with the coolant?

Is it a head gasket issue? Or will a good coolant flush get rid of it?

Will it cause major damage if I don't get it looked at right away?

Its my wife's vehicle and shes only had it since April, so not even a year. Its still under warranty and we haven't noticed any issues with it thus far.

Any thoughts would be great appreciated by y'all legends 💪

Definitely need to flush the coolant and put in some proper rated stuff. Sounds like some sort of internal leak(possibly head gasket). Have a look if you can see where the oily spots are coming from. You'll need to get the cooling system pressure tested and dye put into the coolant which will help pinpoint the source of the leak.

Thanks brother. I appreciate it. Yeah was sort of leaning towards getting that sort of work/checks done. Its still under warranty but not sure if they'll coverall of it. Guess we'll see

Yeah so it turns out it just needed a good flush and new coolant, the muddy stuff was from the prev. owner probably mixing coolant. Thanks for all the help. 🙂

JTCashman, have you checked it recently? Oil spots on the driveway are from a leak somewhere. Flushing and putting in the proper coolant won't stop the leak. The repair shop that did the work, are they reputable? If you took it back to the place you purchased it because they offered the warranty, chances are they did a quick fix to save $. I could be wrong but with my experience on the dealership level I've seen what dealers will do to save $
