I have a 96 Avenger 2.5 24 valve. The problem is it smokes while idle after about 3 minutes. Only out the tail pipe. Does not smoke going down the road. Does not idle rough. What could be the problem.

Welcome to the Forumz Danny! Yes there are a few of us COUPE drivers still around to try and help you along.
Some info that we need though to do that is ...
    (1) how many miles on it
    (2) any motor work recently done
    (3) how long have you had the coupe and how long has this been going on
    (4) any oil consumption and how much does it consume
    (5) any coolant loss and how much
    (6) Is this a light or insect killing smokescreen that happens
Looking forward to hearing back from you, there are not a lot of Coupes still running around...so we gotta keep them rolling!

Is it white or blue smoke? If it's white smoke and goes away after the car has run for a while it could be just the condensation that builds up in your exhaust system while sitting over night in the cooler temperatures since it only does it while idling. If it persists, there could be an internal coolant leak(antifreeze burning) . If it's blue smoke, that is a sign of internal engine wear(oil burning).
