My new DAVEnger is perfect. Except for the bubbling I've just noticed along the leading edge of the hood.
None of the bubbles have broken yet, but it's just a matter of time.

Short of repainting or replacing the entire hood, is there anything I can do to mediate the progression of damage?

I have always been distrustful of bras; I think they only serve to prevent actual chips. They'll collect and hold water, which would make rusting worse, it seems to me.

Well just some education of metallurgy, The hood is Aluminium..It does NOT rust.It does however if not sealed properly react with the environment and corrode and look SIMILAR to rust. Many members have gotten new painted hoods from Dodge about this problem of poor primer seal on the hood lip. A heavily discussed item here on the Forum.
Which BTW stop in on the Newbie check in page and introduce yourself and Avenger to the whole forum family! Welcome aboard the board!

What year and mileage? Chrysler has a 5yr/100k corrosion warranty that covers this defect. Got a new hood under warranty on my avenger.

    2013, 76000mi.

Are you telling me, that, having just bought this car a month ago, I could take it straight back to my dealer and have them replace the hood?

(I wonder if the 4yr dealer warranty I bought covers this)

MANY members in the USA have had little to no trouble having this issue resolved. You won't know until you go back and show them!

Absolutely! It's covered under chryslers corrosion warranty for 5yrs or 100k miles with no deductible. The dealer will take pictures and submit them to Chrysler. I had a brand new hood and paint within 10 days.

Just did a diy fix on my own 2008, just ground back the paint over the bubbles and painted over it. I will replace the hood eventually but its a good way to rid of the bubbling.

It took over a year for Chrysler to put mine through but yeah my 2014 had the same thing. It was funny when the Enterprise chick brought me a rental while the dealer did the hood. She said "We were low on cars so I brought you a Ram" and I'm just like "Hell yeah you're giving a truck to a redneck"

I wish I would have known this was/could be covered! I called today and they need to see it before they tell me if covered or not.

I hope they go by sell date and not manufactured date! lol Manufactured in March of 2012! LOL cutting it close!

It has been heavily talked about in the forum here for a longer time than I have been a member, should have at least read some of the forumz threads during your quiet time from the forumz. Hope you can still benefit from the knowledge still!

They go by the "in service" date which will be later than the manufacture date. You can call your dealer to get that info.

I dont have any rust coming through the paint (yet) So, the advisor didnt seem real confident (atleast that was my take) that they would replace/repair the hood. I was also told that It would be covered until 5 years (april 2017) or 80,000 miles (im at 65K).

My feeling after leaving the dealership, I dont feel confident that it will not get fixed under the warranty because its not coming through the paint / perforation that has been mentioned here before. We will see what they say. If they dont want to fix it, Ill apply some pressure because it was a Certified Used Car ect. See if that helps. (doubt it...)

Good wishes for you on the outcome, sometimes one must "play the game" and go to the higher level above the "service advisor".

Mine didn't have rust showing through either, just bubbling. They covered it. And the corrosion warranty is 5yr/100k miles so idk why they told you 80k.
