My 2013, 2.4L Avenger threw this code a couple days ago. The code reader just said high air flow. Searching previous threads seems to point in the direction of vacuum leaks.
Are there other components other than a faulty intake gasket that can cause this code?
I've read some threads where people were swapping out TB's due to this code but that doesn't seems logical to me?
As always, any advice appreciated

A faulty PCV valve and hose from it to the intake manifold can cause this same code. All part of diagnosis before throwing in expensive parts.
Good Luck, and let us know what you find and your eventual fix. :)

Well, just an update of sorts. After using the reader to get the code, then clearing it, the 2173 has not come back. At the time the 2173 was thrown it placed the car in limp mode, but it seems fine now. This tends to make me think maybe a poor electrical connection somewhere because I have never come across a vacuum leak that fixed itself?
