Has anyone else had to have the cylinder heads on the 3.6l replaced? Mine is in the shop now getting it done....aparently there is a sensor in the stock heads that is not replaceable and requires the entire head to be replaced. It will throw a code for a missfire in cyl 6 or 2. At least it went out now before the warranty runs out!!!!

Well the bitch has been in the shop since Friday and these lazy bastards are telling me that "its such a huge job but we will have it to you by Thursday"... really you bastard? a freaking cylinder head replacement is a "huge job"? When I was feeling lazy a cylinder head replacement took me about 5-6 hrs....when I needed the car that day It would take me less than 4 hrs and that was installing cams, sizing buckets, torqueing everything back to specs and redoing the timing (this on a focus)... don't tell me how huge of a freaking job this is especially when you told me you had a head in the shop already... should've been done that Friday if not then by saturday

There are hundreds of documented cases of early failure and head replacement of the 3.6l V6 engine. Just go to any Jeep forum (for example www.wranglerforum.com) and see.

There is a design defect in the Pentastar engine and many, many of them are failing. Apparently the problem has been fixed for 2013 model year - too early to say if it indeed fixed the problem completely.

You can also find more info about the issue on allpar.com

A large buck elected to commit suicide on the front of the wife's Venger last week, totalled. I am looking at a prior salvage 2012 SXT Plus w/ 11,000 miles. Damn nice car, repair work done well. But this thread bothers me.

I'm guessing bumper to bumper goes away when salvaged, but do TSBs still apply? Am I gonna get new heads if I end up needing them?

Salvage titles don't get any recalls or any other work done to them. I would find out what exactly happened to the car. Request a carfax or something.

Also, from what I remember hearing, I thought the #2 cylinder issue was fixed in the beginning of 2012 already, but can't remember for sure.
