2011 Avenger 4 cylinder auto Fuel gauge isn’t accurate. I’ve tried to calibrate my gages, replaced the sending unit and cluster. It will slowly go up to 3/8 of a tank or so then you start it and it goes to empty. I pulled the sending unit from the tank and manually moved it and it works as it should. No visible damage to the tank or wires. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe the float is broken and won't rise to top? Or maybe it pulls away from what it rubs against when in a natural environment?

Does the float actually float? the float is like one in an old school carborated anything. If it doesn't float and just sinks that could be an issue. Back in the day when carburetor floats where in question you would basically take it out and toss it into water to see if it floats or sinks.
