The LHD headlights should be the same all you will have to do as far as I am aware is realign the headlight beam as it will be pointing to the wrong side of the road.

    Holy thread resurrection Batman :4-vampire:

I've not even had the Avenger a week yet and already the mod bug has got me bad. I am wanting RT style black headlights. Did anybody get any further with the LHD to RHD issue with headlights? I can't find (and I guess I am not alone) anywhere that sells RHD RT black headlights and I have looked and our oven isn't big enough to get my units in to unseal them so I can paint them myself.

I have read somewhere on the internets that US headlamps throw a flat beam and that UK MOT rules are fine with a flat beam. Can anybody confirm this is or isn't the case? (on both counts) I see that I can get a pair of US spec black headlight units for $200 plus shipping. To me that sounds cheap enough to be a winner if they will work over here out of the box or if they can be modded without taking them apart. If I have to take them apart I may as well just set about mine and paint them!

As a side note, if I do this I was also going to get some tasty looking black fog lamps I saw on the same site  just nobody tell the Mrs or else I could be in for a real hiding :box:

    Hi Perkil8r,

I just saw your post (from a couple of years ago). I am in exactly the same position and I wondered if you bought those lights in the end, and if so, did they work out and did you need to adapt them at all?

My wife bought me some from USA but I don't want to fit them on my U.K. Avenger until I know what I might need to do to be sure they're legal.

Any advice would be very gratefully received!

I have fitted R/T Headlights to my car (RHD Australian Delivered) and i have just adjusted the beam :) Not a big job just time consuming, I marked my lines on the garage wall and set the new headlights to match the old ones.

So the export models run a h11 bulb for the low beams?

So all that's really needed is a harness with a female h11 and a male 9006. A company like TRS can do this no problem.

Just about to order the harness and thought I should check I've got this right...

I have currently H11 and 9005 bulbs in my RHD headlights. My new aftermarket (LHD) headlights take 9006 and 9005 bulbs.

    Do I need a 9006 to H11 harness, or do I need (the opposite) a H11 to 9006 harness?

Also, will I still need to buy some 9006 bulbs to replace my H11's, or does this harness mean that my (RHD) H11 bulbs will be able to fit the (LHD) aftermarket headlights?

You will need a h11 to 9006 and you will need 9006 bulbs as the h11 will not fit. I would make sure to specify with whoever you order from that your car currently uses h11 and you're converting to 9006 though.
