So, August 2016 had my "Hemi's" hood replaced under warranty due to corrosion. Fast forward to March 2017. Hubby and I went to go on weekend get away. He checked fluids, closed the hood, and off we went. We live off a major highway, road is signed at 45, most peeps drive 65. So, we get up to speed quickly. Less than half a mile down the road and WHAM!!! the hood fly's up. Not good. The dealership that replaced the hood did NOT install the safety catch correctly. Didn't safety catch. Now my hood is *** up!! AND they are NOT owning up to it. Been fighting with them ever sense. And I had to get a new windshield too because of this. Sigh.... thanks for listening.... 100_1957.JPG 100_1962.JPG

OUCH! A VERY heartstopping experience to have happen! I had the same thing happen with a VW Rabbit YEARS ago, found out the safety catch had become rusty and did not flip over to catch. Hope repairs get done without more stresses!

It really was heart stopping! I may have screamed like a little girl. Hubby is thinking about getting an aftermarket hood with air intake(?). I said that was fine as long as he can get it in matte black to match the stripes. VW Rabbit, not something you see every day now! Thanks...

They also offer the Hellcat style hood if you are interested in another option.

They are, but I would suggest painting the side air intakes. My body shop guy left all three silver (since I hadn't told him otherwise), and it looked a bit tacky. Once I blacked them out (left the main center one metal), it was a nice and clean look.

You notice that on most of the Challenger Hellcat hoods, whether the hood is color or carbon fiber, the air intake metal mesh areas are blacked out. Just a fyi to anyone who gets a HC style one.
