What problem are you having as far as removing the padding? Should be able to pull the carpeting back right up inside the trunk, no?

Remove or disconnect the following:

Carpet, pull it back from the rear strut tower

Plastic cover from the top of the strut tower

Both strut assembly-to-chassis nuts

Rear wheel

Splash shield from the upper strut mount

Strut-to-rear knuckle bolt

Strut by pushing the rear suspension downward and tilting the top of the strut outward

I have the same question as SilverAvenger, but see no answer. It's a '96 coupe and I need to get to the top of the shocks from inside the passenger compartment. It's been below freezing the past several weeks, car sitting on blocks in the drive, and I don't want to fracture any brittle plastic parts trying to remove the side cushions so I can remove the parcel shelf under the back window. The cushions are on each side of the folded down seat backs and they extend up over the edge of the parcel shelf. I've pulled different directions as hard as I dare. What kind of clips (spring steel or plastic?) hold them in place and what's the trick for getting them out intact? Thanks in advance!
