My rpm's run about 1500 when cruising. When I slow down for stoplight and rpm's drop, when they hit 1000, engine revs up to about 1400 for a second or two then drops back down to 800 or so. Any suggestions? Throttle body? No other issues. Idles/runs fine.

RPM's will vary some, most all cars do. Throttle rpm is controlled by the electric throttle body using info from various sensors fed to the ECM. A poorly maintained motor(old spark plugs, long oil change intervals) can cause things to get "screwy" This is an oil pressure driven variable valve timing motor. if sludge builds up it will mess with optimum engine performance. We don;t know your cars past maint history or miles. There could be a number of things causing your concern. Most common on the 2.4 is a "dirty" throttle body that needs cleaning, or worst case replacement as the throttle opening is gear driven and the gears tend to wear out(lightning bolt warning lamp on dash).
