2013 Dodge Avenger SE 2.4L 4-Cylinder
31,000 miles [Purchased @ 27,000 miles]
Previous owner was my dads gf who basically drove it like a little old lady, always taken to dealer at any sign of trouble and very well maintained!
I have owned the car for a year, but lately have been having lots of trouble with it.
The car, after about 12 miles or being at operating temp, RPMs will dip randomly during acceleration and shoot back up, and if I continue to throttle through the sudden dip the engine will stall. Also after reaching temp, it seems like hills will cause a stall or it will just decide to stall with no warning.
If I put it in park or neutral, turn off then back on, it will fire back up.
This all started while I was doing a delivery. The parking lots sat up on a fairly high curb but i did not bottom out, tried to get through the 4 lane intersection quickly, managed to, then the car stalled on me. It has been doing it ever since
Code P0339 (2-4 instances) only show up when engine stalls, occasionally getting P0335 (6 instances: 3 of 0335 and 3 of 0339 when it does).
Have only had 1 instance where there was a single and multiple misfire code but have not had it since.
Only 1 time as well have I gotten a Crankshaft Position Sensor not learned code, cant remember this specific code though, and this was before I replaced both CPS (Just the one closest to cab/rear of engine)
So far I have:
Replaced both Crankshaft Position Sensors [Duralast from autozone]
New air filter (It was real dirty)
Metered connections from CPS and voltage was good (wires are a little rough but still are fine)
Checked connections on the ECU/TCU (They were spotless)
Check all fuses in fuse box, which were good
Ran the reset cycle that involves battery terminal disconnected for 15 minutes then multiple restarts to attempt to relearn
[Please correct me if im wrong on both the reset cycle or the sensors needing relearned, had a dealership mech over the phone ADAMENT that there is no 'learning the sensors'
While another dealership wanted $130 just to hook up the scanner]
Speculating on it being the throttle body as the person who made the YouTube video I originally watched to learn how to replace the CPS's suggested that replacing the throttle body is what fixed their similar situation.
My dad has mentioned as well possibly a bad fuel filter.
I am really at a loss here and would appreciate any and all help provided, as I use this car to make money, and dont have the money to shell out to a dealership for them to financially finger my b-hole. Its a vicious cycle!
