Hey there,
I’ve got an ‘08 Avenger SE 2.4L that broke down in February, the mechanic eventually replaced the throttle body and PCM. We also had to replace the intake manifold ourselves in the process.
Should be all fixed, but the engine light won’t go away.
The codes are P0418 and P2432.
Both codes seem to point to Secondary Air Injection, but I’m 90% sure that my 2.4L engine doesn’t have Secondary Air Injection.
We believe the mechanic put the wrong PCM in the car, one that thinks I have the model with SAI.
We think we have to reprogram it. God forbid I have to get a new one.
See below, there is no air pump where the manual says there would be. This must not be the 2.4L PZEV, or is it? I’m not sure. Any insight is welcome.

I wanted to search for any Dodge forums that we’re talking about the secondary air injection relay because of the baffling complete lack of information on the ENTIRE WORLD WIDE WEB! Its 2021 and the internet these days is completely different than when it first came to be. You can literally find answers to pretty much anything you can imagine! Anyways about 2 weeks ago my wife drove to the store with our son at night and all of the sudden she said it felt like she hit something extremely hard and as soon as she started going up this hill the vehicle died in the middle of the road. It did this twice and when it did she had no breaks, no power steering, and literally the vehicle wouldn’t start for her. I went and picked them up and drove it home and nothing happened on the way home. The next day me and my brother drove 30 minutes away and on the way home the vehicle stalled out on me! Well every time I tried to get it to start it would do a long crank and wouldn’t start and we ended up having to leave the vehicle at a gas station overnight and it was freezing outside! The next day we came back to get the car and it literally took us six hours to make the 30 minute ride home and we broke down probably 100 times on the freeway after an ice storm and literally there was nowhere to pull over and we were almost killed probably 100 times! So I ended up replacing the crankshaft position sensor and that helped the vehicle stop stalling and not wanting to shift out of gear while driving but then the very next day the car was driving really good and all of the sudden all of my instrument gauges went completely crazy! It literally said I had no fuel, no speed, no rpm’s and all of my warning lights came on and then the vehicle completely died out and we were stranded again and literally sat alongside a dark dangerous road freezing for almost for hours with no way to get home to my wife and kids and grandkids until finally someone was able to give us a ride home at like 10:00pm! So I had to have the check engine light read again and now I had a battery warning so I replaced that even though we had bought one like 6 months ago and also low voltage warnings and secondary air injection warning as well. Well nobody could tell me where the secondary air relay was not even Dodge master mechanics or the Entire internet which is insane! I looked for literally over 4 days all day and found ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I purchased the relay 4 days ago and even having the part that will solve my issues was worthless this whole time since nobody knows where it is…. But I went out this morning and I think I finally found the LEGENDARY HIDDEN LOCATION lol. Anyways this is long enough but it needs to be on the internet if just to help one person! When you pop the hood and look at the engine you’ll see the silver circular top of the air pump, the secondary air injection system is to the right of it below a ton of hoses and stuff. Well if you look to the right of the air pump you’ll see a silver heat shroud! I got to thinking as soon as I seen that heat shroud it reminded me of the day before or so when I had to get underneath the car and replace the crankshaft position sensor I had to peel back a heat shroud to get to it so I got to wondering what it was protecting and sure enough when I bent it back I seen a clip for a relay so I can only imagine it’s for the secondary air injection relay so if you’re having this issue that’s where that relay is going to be located! Somebody had to get this out on the web because nobody in the world seems to know so there you go I hope it helps you guys if anybody is having this issue and this helps you let me know good luck!
